This section will equip you with the knowledge and precise instructions needed to snag every collectible, ensuring you leave no stone unturned in your quest for completion. Whether you're hunting for elusive Skulls to modify your gameplay or seeking out hidden Data Pads to uncover deeper lore, this checklist has you covered. Prepare for some backtracking and clever maneuvering!

Remember, most collectibles can be found on any difficulty, but some locations might be easier to access on lower settings due to reduced enemy presence. However, for the true challenge and the best experience, we recommend tackling these on Heroic or Legendary!

Skulls

Skulls are game-modifying collectibles that, once found, can be activated from the campaign lobby to alter gameplay. Some make the game harder, some add humorous effects, and some simply change the way you approach combat. There are 13 Skulls in total.

Mission 1: Sierra 117

Blind Skull:
- Location: After exiting the first cave system where you encounter the Brutes and Grunts, you'll cross a small, rickety bridge made of logs. Look to your right immediately after crossing.
- Strategy: The Skull is perched on a small, elevated ledge against the cliff face. You'll need to jump from the bridge or the adjacent rock formation to reach it. A well-timed crouch-jump can help.
Iron Skull:
- Location: Towards the end of the mission, after the Warthog run and before you enter the final building where Johnson is held captive. You'll pass through a large, open area with a waterfall to your left.
- Strategy: Look for a small, rocky outcrop near the top of the waterfall. The Skull is hidden behind some foliage. You'll need to carefully jump and clamber your way up the rocks to reach it. It's a bit of a tricky climb, so be patient.

Mission 2: Crow's Nest

Black Eye Skull:
- Location: In the large hangar bay where you first encounter the Brute Choppers. After clearing the initial enemies, look for a small, elevated catwalk or pipe system running along the wall near the entrance you came from.
- Strategy: You'll need to jump onto some crates or equipment to get enough height to reach the pipe. Follow the pipe along the wall, and the Skull will be at the end, often partially obscured.
Too Easy Skull:
- Location: After the hangar bay, you'll proceed through a series of corridors. Eventually, you'll reach a room with several large, cylindrical storage tanks.
- Strategy: The Skull is on top of one of these tanks. You'll need to use the surrounding crates and ledges to carefully jump your way to the top. It's a vertical climb, so look for the easiest path up.

Mission 3: Tsavo Highway

Tough Luck Skull:
- Location: Early in the mission, after you acquire your first Warthog. Drive forward until you reach a large, open area with several rock formations and a Covenant blockade.
- Strategy: Look for a tall, distinct rock spire on the left side of the area, just before the main blockade. The Skull is on top. You'll need to use the Warthog to boost-jump onto a lower ledge, then carefully jump your way up the spire. This can be frustrating, so try different angles with the Warthog.

Mission 4: The Storm

Catch Skull:
- Location: During the section where you're tasked with destroying the anti-air turrets. After destroying the first turret, you'll proceed to a second area with another turret. Look for a large, circular structure or silo near this second turret.
- Strategy: The Skull is on top of this silo. You'll need to use a nearby Mongoose or Warthog to jump onto a lower ledge, then carefully maneuver your way to the very top. Alternatively, a well-placed grenade jump might work if you're feeling adventurous.

Mission 5: Floodgate

Famine Skull:
- Location: In the large, open chamber where you encounter the Flood for the first time in significant numbers, shortly after the mission begins. This room has multiple levels and walkways.
- Strategy: Look for a high, inaccessible ledge or pipe system near the ceiling on the far side of the room from where you entered. The Skull is nestled up there. You'll need to use a Gravity Lift or a well-placed grenade jump to reach it. Sometimes, a careful jump from a higher walkway can also work.

Mission 6: The Ark

Cowbell Skull:
- Location: After the initial Warthog run and entering the first large Forerunner structure. You'll proceed through a series of corridors and rooms. Look for a room with a large, central pillar or structure.
- Strategy: The Skull is on a high, narrow ledge near the ceiling of this room. You'll need to use a combination of jumps from ledges, crates, or even a well-timed grenade jump to reach it. It's often above a doorway or archway.
Grunt Birthday Party Skull:
- Location: Much later in the mission, after you've activated the first two power nodes and are heading towards the third. You'll enter a large, open area with a massive Forerunner structure in the center.
- Strategy: Look for a small, hidden cave or alcove on the outer perimeter of this area, often obscured by rocks or foliage. The Skull is tucked away inside. It's a bit off the beaten path, so keep your eyes peeled for any unusual rock formations.

Mission 7: The Covenant

Mythic Skull:
- Location: During the section where you're flying Hornets and destroying anti-air turrets. After destroying the first set of turrets, you'll fly towards a large, central tower.
- Strategy: The Skull is on a very high, almost unreachable ledge on one of the outer arms of this central tower. You'll need to carefully fly your Hornet and perform a precise jump out of the cockpit onto the ledge. This requires excellent piloting skills and timing.
Fog Skull:
- Location: After the Hornet section, you'll proceed on foot into a large, circular chamber with a central energy core.
- Strategy: The Skull is on a small, hidden platform or beam high above the central energy core. You'll need to use the surrounding ledges and structures to carefully jump and clamber your way up. Look for a path that seems just barely reachable.

Mission 8: Cortana

Vampire Skull (aka "IWHBYD" - I Would Have Been Your Daddy):
- Location: In the large, circular chamber where you encounter the first significant wave of Flood Pure Forms. Look for a series of small, circular platforms or "buttons" on the floor around the perimeter of the room.
- Strategy: To activate this Skull, you need to press these buttons in a specific, seemingly random order. The order changes with each playthrough. Listen for a distinct sound cue when you press the correct button. If you press the wrong one, you'll hear a "buzz" and need to restart the sequence. Once all are pressed correctly, the Skull will appear in the center of the room. This is arguably the most challenging Skull to acquire due to the trial-and-error nature.

Mission 9: Halo

Thunderstorm Skull:
- Location: Early in the mission, after you acquire the Scorpion tank. Drive forward until you reach a large, open area with several rock formations and a Covenant encampment.
- Strategy: Look for a very tall, distinct rock spire on the right side of the area, often near a small cliff edge. The Skull is on top. Similar to the Tough Luck Skull, you'll need to use the Scorpion to boost-jump onto a lower ledge, then carefully jump your way up the spire. This can be even trickier with the tank's size.

Data Pads

Data Pads are lore-rich collectibles that provide additional background and insights into the Halo universe. They are often well-hidden and require keen observation to locate. There are 7 Data Pads in total, one for each mission (excluding the Prologue and Epilogue).
