After navigating the initial stretch of Tsavo Highway, you'll encounter a significant Covenant roadblock designed to halt your progress. This section details how to effectively dismantle their defenses and clear the path forward. Expect a mix of infantry, Ghosts, and potentially a Wraith, so prepare for a sustained engagement.

Your Warthog, while excellent for speed and infantry suppression, will be vulnerable here. Consider dismounting at a strategic distance to assess the situation and plan your attack. The key to success is prioritizing targets and utilizing the environment to your advantage.

Initial Engagement Strategy

As you approach the roadblock, you'll notice several Grunts and Jackals positioned behind cover, often accompanied by a few Brutes. Do not drive directly into their line of fire. Instead, pull your Warthog to the left side of the road, using the large rock formations for cover. This provides a natural barrier and allows your Marine gunner to engage targets from a safer position.

1. Eliminate Infantry: Focus on taking out the Grunts and Jackals first. They are squishy and can quickly deplete your shields with concentrated plasma fire. Your Warthog's turret is highly effective here.
2. Target Brutes: Once the smaller infantry are down, turn your attention to the Brutes. If they have Brute Shots, prioritize them to prevent area-of-effect damage. A well-placed Warthog ram can stun them, allowing your gunner to finish them off.
3. Deal with Ghosts: There will likely be one or two Ghosts patrolling the area. If you're still in the Warthog, try to ram them or have your gunner focus fire. If you've dismounted, use grenades or a well-aimed Battle Rifle burst to the driver.

Dealing with the Wraith

The most significant threat at this roadblock is often a Wraith. It will typically be positioned further back, providing artillery support. Engaging it directly in a Warthog is extremely risky. Here's how to handle it:

• Flank Maneuver: After clearing the initial infantry, dismount your Warthog and use the terrain to flank the Wraith. The left side of the road offers more cover.
• Grenade Spam: If you have plenty of grenades (Frag or Plasma), use them to damage the Wraith's armor or force the driver out. Plasma grenades are particularly effective for sticking to the vehicle.
• Boarding Action: The most satisfying (and often safest) way to deal with a Wraith is to board it. Sprint towards it, jump on top, and melee the hatch. Be prepared for the Brute driver to exit; quickly dispatch them and take control of the Wraith.
• Hijack and Destroy: Once you've hijacked the Wraith, you can use its powerful cannon to clear the remaining Covenant forces, including any stragglers or even another Wraith if one spawns. Alternatively, drive it off a cliff or self-destruct it to clear the path.

Remember to keep an eye on your shield and health, and don't hesitate to fall back to cover if you're taking too much damage. Once the Wraith and all other Covenant forces are eliminated, the roadblock will be clear, and you can proceed further down Tsavo Highway.
