Left 4 Dead

Alright, so you've booted up Left 4 Dead and you're ready to dive in, but before we start blasting zombies, let's make sure you know how to actually *do* things. This section is all about the controls – what button does what. It might seem basic, but knowing your way around the controller (or keyboard!) is key to surviving the horde. We'll cover both how you play as a Survivor and how you play as one of the nasty Infected.

Survivor Controls:

When you're one of the four brave souls trying to make it out alive, here’s what you need to know:

• D-Pad: This is your go-to for accessing your inventory. Need to grab a health pack or switch to that shotgun? Hit the D-Pad.
• Left Analog Stick: Standard movement. Push it to walk or run around the environment.
• Right Analog Stick: This is for aiming. Keep your crosshairs where you want them to land those crucial headshots.
• Start Button: Brings up the main menu. Handy for pausing the action if you need a breather or want to adjust settings.
• Back Button: Opens up the status screen. Good for checking your objectives or your teammates' health.
• X Button: This is your 'Use' button. It’s for interacting with objects, opening doors, reviving teammates, or using items like pills.
• Y Button: Use this to select your weapon. Cycle through your available firearms and melee options.
• A Button: Time to get some air! This is your jump button. Use it to hop over small obstacles or reach slightly higher ledges.
• B Button: Reload! Essential for keeping your guns fed. Don't get caught with an empty clip when a Charger is bearing down on you.
• Right Trigger: This is your primary attack for your gun. Hold it down to unleash a hail of bullets.
• Left Trigger: Your trusty melee attack. Bash zombies up close and personal when ammo is scarce or they get too near.
• Right Bumper: Need to quickly turn around? This 180-degree spin is a lifesaver when you're caught off guard.
• Left Bumper: Crouch. Useful for ducking under certain attacks or just making yourself a smaller target.

Infected Controls:

Playing as the Infected is a whole different ballgame. You're the monster, and your controls reflect that:

• D-Pad: Doesn't do anything for Infected. You won't be accessing inventory here.
• Left Analog Stick: Just like as a Survivor, this controls your movement. Slither, crawl, or charge your way through the map.
• Right Analog Stick: Aiming your attacks. Whether you're spitting bile or charging, you'll use this to direct your assault.
• Start Button: Same as Survivor – brings up the menu.
• Back Button: Also the same – opens the status screen.
• X Button: This is a unique one for Infected: 'Move to Survivor Position (Ghost Mode)'. It's used in specific scenarios when you're trying to get into a better spot to ambush.
• Y Button: No function as an Infected.
• A Button: Jump! Even as a monster, you can leap around.
• B Button: No function as an Infected.
• Right Trigger: Your primary attack. This is what you'll use for most of your offensive actions, like a Smoker's tongue lash or a Hunter's pounce.
• Left Trigger: Your secondary attack. Some Infected have special moves tied to this, like the Boomer's bile bomb.
• Right Bumper: Another 180-degree spin. Perfect for quickly repositioning or surprising a Survivor who thought they were safe.
• Left Bumper: Crouch. Useful for getting low to the ground, especially for stealthy approaches.
