Follow the Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 8: The Matriarch walkthrough to distract NPCs, defeat Grand Unifier Raker, and find collectibles.
Walkthrough
- 1Follow the NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) until a distraction is needed. Select the Distraction option to hack a drone; otherwise, you'll have to "wing it".
- 2Enter a vision of Peter's past. Jump through the window and defeat the alien invaders.
- 3After the vision shifts, follow Nikki.
- 4Inspect the cake in Nikki's room.
- 5Find the gift in Nikki's room and place it on the kitchen table with other gifts.
- 6Interact with the Projector on the table opposite the cake, pushing the analog sticks forward and hitting the button prompt to fix it.
- 7Open the large blue door for a scene, then prepare for a boss fight.
- 8BOSS FIGHT: Grand Unifier Raker - Use regular shots sparingly. Freeze Raker and use team attacks. Build his stagger and deal damage until he ends the fight.
- 9Defeat Raker's remaining goons, prioritizing the flying, mage-type enemies that buff others. Use the Electric Element against them.
- 10Use team attacks and call to action prompts to defeat enemies. If the team is encased in crystal, hold Triangle near them to free them.
- 11Climb the floating platforms to reach the top.
- 12Use Rocket's Cluster Flark Bomb on enemies on the platform.
- 13Run forward until you drop down.
- 14Find a crack in the wall on the left side of the hallway and have Drax smash it open.
- 15Jump into the fluid and crawl through the small space.
- 16Have Drax pick up a pillar and place it in front of the crawl space to reach another level.
- 17Find the pink crate containing the Costume: Bad Lord for Star Lord.
- 18Follow the linear path. Use Rocket to drop a mine on cult members worshipping below.
- 19Run past the cult members to the door on the back wall on the right.
- 20Have Drax knock down a pillar to proceed.
- 21Follow the path; Gamora will automatically clear a path.
- 22Speak to Rocket at the window if desired.
- 23Squeeze through an opening.
- 24Defeat waves of enemies, prioritizing snipers on the upper level, then stronger enemies with the Lightning Element.
- 25Have Rocket hack a terminal to open a door.
- 26After Rocket hacks another terminal and opens a door, turn around and head left of the hologram to find an Archive entry: RE: She Has Come!
- 27Use the Workbench if desired.
- 28Take a few steps back from the workbench and look right. Climb large metallic cylinders to reach a ledge containing a Collectible: Deep Mine Device.
- 29Follow the team away from the Workbench to a door needing a battery.
- 30Find a dead Inquisitor robot and grab the battery to its right.
- 31Insert the battery into the slot to the left of the door.
- 32Step back out to get Drax, then re-enter the elevator and ride up.
- 33At the top, get on a skiff and use Rocket's Cluster Flark Bomb or Peter's Eye of the Hurricane to knock enemies off.
- 34Repeat on the other skiff or defeat enemies, then have Rocket hack the remaining skiff to fly to the next area.
- 35Defeat cultist thugs, prioritizing flyers with the Lightning Element.
- 36Move leftward and drop down.
- 37Follow the team and drop down again to reach the second skiff.
- 38Shoot passing skiffs to cause them to explode.
Tips
- Regular shots do very little damage to Grand Unifier Raker; freezing him and using team attacks are effective.
- Flying enemies are more dangerous as they buff others; take them out first using the Electric Element.
- Use call to action prompts to kill enemies whenever possible.
- Yellow energy projected by enemies is similar to Nova electricity.
- If the team is encased in crystal, hold Triangle near them to free them, similar to reviving.
- Huddle up when necessary.
- A single Cluster Flark Bomb from Rocket is enough to throw enemies off a platform.
- Use Rocket to drop a mine on cult members.
- Gamora will automatically clear a path at one point.
- Head to the left of the hologram before proceeding to find an Archive entry.
- Use the Workbench before turning right.
- Climb large metallic cylinders to reach a higher ledge.
- Grab the battery from near the dead Inquisitor robot.
- Shoot passing skiffs to cause them to explode.
