General Tips:
- When in battle, even before Peter gets his Element upgrades, you can see that some enemies have an Elemental Weakness displayed to the left of their Life-bar. Once you have your upgrades, using these elemental weaknesses don't just do more damage, but they can effect the enemies in a variety of ways, such as freezing, stunning, setting fire, etc. it's best to use these whenever possible.
- Similarly enemies will often have Prompts above their heads. Use them whenever possible. They will do massive damage and at times, can even dismember enemies. Note: that when these are partner "Call to Actions", they are completely random.
- As the game progresses and enemies get more difficult and the variety varies, pay attention to what the Guardian's say in combat. In some instances, they will tell you outright to kill certain enemy types first, as they will buff or heal supporting enemies for example.
- Hide the Llama. It's a cheaper fine.
- Choose Groot instead of Rocket for an arguably better path in Chapter 4.
- When Collecting Guardian Specific items, it's not enough just to pick them up. In order for the game to recognize them, you have to visit the Guardian in question aboard the ship and inspect the item.
- Costumes will be saved upon pickup, items will not. Meaning if you pickup a costume, then end the level, you will still have the costume. This will not be true of collectibles.
- Don't throw Rocket.
- When you're facing off against Rocket in the beginning, you can cheat by using your visor.
- Kill weaker enemies with Melee attacks.
- Use the Huddles for Boss Fights or if you're surrounded by several tougher enemies.
- Use the environment. Throwing Boulders, dropping heavy objects and causing explosions - for FREE - so take advantage.
- Upgrade often and keep all the Guardians upgraded as well. The 5th and final upgrades are automatic, story-driven and will be unlocked automatically.
