Chapter 12: The Pirate Purge (Phazon Mines)

Return to the Phazon Mines.

In Mine Security Station, use a Power Bomb near the metal grate to reveal a console. Scan the console to deactivate the force field blocking the red door.

Enter Storage Depot A and use the FLAMETHROWER Beam Combo.

In Elite Research, scan the Phazon Elite. Destroy the Mega Turrets first. Use a Power Bomb next to the tank containing the Phazon Elite to destroy it and obtain the ARTIFACT OF WARRIOR (11/12). Continue to Central Dynamo, defeating the Elite Pirate in Dynamo Access.

In Central Dynamo, head through the far door. Use a Power Bomb to clear rubble if necessary.

In Quarantine Access, destroy the four Mega Turrets. Roll into the hole to your right, roll under the turrets, and scan the console to shut them down.

In Metroid Quarantine A, scan all consoles. Scan the red console to release Metroids onto Space Pirates. Kill all Metroids in the lower area.

Navigate the Phazon pit by jumping on mushrooms and using the X-Ray Visor to see platforms. Cross the pit using platforms and a mushroom.

Use the X-Ray Visor again to see another platform and cross to a Spider Ball track. Use a Power Bomb, roll through the busted wall, and use another Power Bomb. Roll across the new Spider Ball track, ride the invisible platform up, and collect the MISSILE EXPANSION (45/49).

Return to the first Spider Ball track and ride it up to the exit.

In Elevator Access B, defeat the Burrowers.

In Elevator B, descend to the third level of the mines.

In Fungal Hall Access, defeat the Space Pirate and hop down. Collect the MISSILE EXPANSION (46/49) located beneath the large mushroom at the bottom.

In Fungal Hall A, defeat the Hunter Metroids. Hop across mushrooms and use the Grapple on the Glider to cross to the exit.

In Phazon Mining Tunnel, Power Bomb the wreckage and roll through the Spider Ball course. At the bottom, Boost across disappearing platforms to avoid falling into the Phazon, then exit through the hole.

In Fungal Hall B, defeat the Metroids. Hop across mushrooms and use the Grapple on the Glider. Take the left exit to replenish Missiles or the right exit to proceed. Below the right exit, bomb the circle of small mushrooms to find a MISSILE EXPANSION (47/49).

In Quarantine Access B, defeat the Void Bombus visible with the X-Ray Visor using the Wave Beam.

In Metroid Quarantine B, scan the Plasma Trooper and "Special Forces". Two Plasma Troopers will appear; defeat them. Cross the Phazon pit using the Grapple Point and deactivate the force field with the adjacent security panel. Defeat the Plasma Trooper and two Wave Troopers. Blow up the nearby canister with a Super Missile to obtain a MISSILE EXPANSION (48/49). Use the Save Station located on this floor. Climb the ramps and exit through the red door. Scan the final Pirate Data.

In Elite Quarters Access, defeat the Plasma Trooper. Melt the ice above the security barriers with the Plasma Beam to open them.

In Elite Quarters, prepare to fight the Omega Pirate.

BOSS: Omega Pirate - The Omega Pirate attacks with claws at close range, the Wave Quake Generator (dodge with a double jump) at medium range, and Plasma Incendiary Launchers at long range. It uses a shield to absorb attacks when not attacking. To defeat it, shoot the Omega Pirate while it is attacking, preferably during its Wave Quake Generator attack. Scan the Omega Pirate to reveal four weak points: the Phazon plates on its arms and legs. Hit these with any weapon, with Plasma or Super Missiles being most effective. After all four plates are destroyed, the Omega Pirate will call for help and use Chameleon Manta, becoming invisible. During this phase, Troopers will drop from catwalks; defeat them before they defeat you. Once the Troopers are gone, use the X-Ray Visor to see the Omega Pirate's heart and veins, which are visible as it recharges on the Phazon pit. Attack these weak points.
