Learn how to start and complete Dareel's Research Report quest in Monster Hunter Wilds. Find the Tracktail Lizard location and capture it for rewards.

Alright, so you've finished up story mission 2-2, 'Eye of the Storm,' and you're ready for a little side quest? Awesome! Head over to the Windward Plains Base Camp. Look for Dareel; he's hanging out in the Research tent on the west side. Go on in and chat with him – he's got a job for you: tracking down and capturing a Tracktail Lizard.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Find Dareel: Make your way to the Windward Plains Base Camp. The Research tent is on the western edge of the camp. Go inside and talk to Dareel to accept the quest.
  2. 2
Locate Tracktail Lizards: These little guys are native to the Windward Plains. A reliable spot is just outside the entrance to Area 13, if you're coming from Area 12. For the easiest route, fast travel to the Area 16: Northwest pop-up tent. From there, stick to the southern wall and head towards Area 12. You'll usually find them in a pair, and they appear during both the Fallow and Plenty seasons.
  3. 3
Capture the Lizards: Be careful when you approach! They spook easily and will run if you get too close too fast. Once you've found them, equip your Capture Net. Hover over one of the lizards and use the net to scoop it up.
  4. 4
Return to Dareel: Once you've successfully captured a Tracktail Lizard, head back to Dareel at the Windward Plains Base Camp to turn in the quest.
Tips
  • If the lizards aren't at the usual spot, don't worry! Just head back to the pop-up tent and wait around for about 5-10 minutes. They should respawn.
  • Remember to approach slowly to avoid scaring them off.

You'll get ten Honey and 50 Guild Points for your trouble. This might not seem like much, but it's the start of a quest line with Dareel and his rival, Samin. Stick with it, and you'll be helping them with their research competition!
