Basically, when you land shots with a weapon that has the Fortress mod, you'll increase your current armor and resistance. It starts at 5% per stack, and you can stack it up to three times. Once you hit those three stacks, the buff gets even better – it doubles, and you also get a solid 20% damage boost for a whole 10 seconds. Pretty sweet, right?

Now, this mod has seen some changes over the years. Back in the day, it was all about boosting your weapon damage based on how much armor you had, which made it a favorite for Devastators. But after the New Horizon update, it shifted to what we have now. It used to give a 30% damage increase, but it got a slight nerf heading into Worldslayer, bringing it down to 20%. How to Get the Fortress Mod

Unlike some of the newer mods, the Fortress mod actually drops from the Deathshield legendary weapon in the base game. The good news is that you can farm it! Here's the trick: create a new character, boost them straight to Worldslayer, then send over some purple rarity gear from your main character through the stash. Have your new character dismantle that gear. Use the Titanium you get to convert into Drop Pod Resources. Then, just keep cycling through Tiago's vendor until you manage to snag the Deathshield. The Deathshield is the only weapon in the base game that's guaranteed to have the Fortress mod on it. Once you have it, you can either use the weapon as is, or you can pull the mod off and put it onto any other weapon you like using the transmog system. This works for any new or old weapons you have in the Worldslayer Apocalypse gear system. We even managed to get the new Thunderclap weapon with Fortress already on it!
