Your guide to the Power Plant in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Learn how to find and catch the legendary Zapdos, plus discover rare wild Pokemon.
Alright, let's head to the Power Plant! This place is super important for finding some rare Pokémon that you won't find anywhere else. To get there, you'll want to Fly to Route 10, which is the route just before you hit Rock Tunnel. Once you're there, look for a stream north of the Pokémon Center. Hop on your Surf and ride down; that'll lead you right to the Power Plant.
Before you even get inside, you'll run into a Pokemaniac who's got a Level 29 Rhyhorn and a Lickitung. Take 'em down, and then you can head into the plant.
Power Plant Wild Pokémon
| WILD POKEMON | APPEARANCE RATE(FR/LG) | CATCH DIFFICULTY |
| Magnemite | 10%/30% | Normal |
| Voltorb | 30%/10% | Normal |
| Magneton | 5%/10% | Hard |
| Pikachu | 50% | Normal |
| Electabuzz | 5%/0% | Normal-Hard |
This place is also a pretty decent spot for training up your team, especially since you can find some evolved Pokémon here. Make sure you try to catch a few of the rare ones!
Keep an eye out, because you might find Electrode and Voltorb that look like regular items – they're actually disguised Pokémon! And hey, FireRed players, this is your chance to snag the super rare Electabuzz. Sorry, Leaf Green players, you'll have to wait a bit longer for that one.
Finding Zapdos
Once you're inside, make your way towards the top of the Power Plant to grab a Max Potion. After that, head right and go down two exits. Take the second exit you see, go all the way to the right, and then head up. If you're looking for a Thunder Stone, keep going up and take the right path. If not, just keep heading left and then up.
Now, go down and take the very first left. Just keep following that path, and you'll eventually find the legendary Zapdos!
Legendary Zapdos
| WILD POKEMON | APPEARANCE RATE(FR/LG) | CATCH DIFFICULTY |
| Zapdos | 100% | VERY HARD |
Catching Zapdos is pretty similar to how you'd catch Articuno. Your best bet is to use a move that inflicts a status condition, like paralysis or sleep. Then, try to whittle down its health as much as you can before you start throwing Poké Balls. Honestly, it all comes down to luck!
Zapdos is an Electric/Flying type and is weak against Rock and Ice attacks, so use that to your advantage. While I personally find Zapdos a bit easier to catch than Articuno, it really can be a toss-up. Just keep at it!
Once you're done with Zapdos, you can head out of the Power Plant.
