Tips
  • Flash is essential to navigate Rock Tunnel; without it, the cave is extremely dark.
  • Flash is not a strong attack and may be better to teach to a Pokemon that doesn't need it for a primary move.
  • Consider catching a Machop and an Onix, as they are rare in this area and strong when evolved.
  • The wild Pokemon in Rock Tunnel include Zubat (90% appearance rate on floors 1-2), Machop (5% on floors 1-2), Mankey (5% on floors 1-2, 5% on floors 3+), Onix (1% on floors 1-2, 5% on floors 3+), and Geodude (90% appearance rate on floors 3+).
  • Catch difficulty for Zubat, Machop, and Mankey is Easy. Onix is Hard. Geodude is Easy.
  • Use Grass or Water type Pokemon against Cubone (Ground type).
  • Use Grass or Electric type Pokemon against Slowpoke.
  • Graveler is the evolved form of Geodude and is defeated similarly.
  • A Move Tutor near the end of the cave teaches Rock Slide.
  • Super Repel can be purchased in Lavender Town for 500 if you wish to avoid wild Pokemon encounters.
