The Executioner is one of the first truly challenging opponents you'll face, typically encountered during a mid-game main quest. He's a large, heavily armored foe with a powerful axe.

Phases & Attacks:

  1. Phase 1: Heavy Swings: The Executioner will slowly lumber towards you, performing wide, heavy swings with his axe. These attacks are slow but deal massive damage if they connect.
  2. Phase 2: Ground Slam (after taking damage): Once he's lost about a third of his health, he might start incorporating a ground slam attack, creating a small shockwave.
  3. Phase 3: Enraged (low health): At low health, he becomes slightly faster and more aggressive, potentially chaining attacks.

Strategy:

  • Dodge, Don't Block: His attacks are too powerful to effectively block without taking significant chip damage or having your guard broken. Focus on dodge rolling through his attacks.
  • Hit and Run: Get a few hits in after he completes a swing animation, then immediately dodge away. Do not get greedy.
  • Ranged Harassment: If you have a crossbow, use it to chip away at his health from a distance, especially during his slow movement phases.
  • Environmental Hazards: Look for explosive barrels or other environmental elements you can use to your advantage. Lure him near them and detonate them with a ranged attack.
  • Health Potions: Stock up! You will likely take damage. Don't hesitate to use potions when your health drops below 50%.

Weaknesses: Slow movement speed, predictable attack patterns (once learned). He is resistant to direct melee damage due to heavy armor, so precise hits or ranged attacks are more effective.
