How to Beat Boss: Kageyama's Elite Guard

Defeat Kageyama's Elite Guard in Shinobi: Art of Vengeance by using precise timing with your Ninjitsu, especially the Art of the Fire Dragon, and Shurikens.

The path to Kageyama is guarded by his Elite Guard, a formidable duo that requires precise timing and strategic use of your Ninjitsu. This encounter takes place in a large, open chamber with several elevated platforms. Before engaging, ensure you have at least two uses of the Art of the Fire Dragon Ninjitsu and a full stock of Shurikens.

Phase 1: The Swift Blade Master

The first member of the Elite Guard is a nimble swordsman who specializes in rapid, close-quarters attacks. He will frequently dash across the arena and attempt to close the distance quickly.

• Initial Strategy: As soon as the fight begins, activate your Art of the Fire Dragon. This will deal significant initial damage and create a temporary shield, allowing you to get a few free hits in.
• Evasion and Counter: The Blade Master's primary attack is a three-hit sword combo. He telegraphs this by a brief glint on his blade. Your best defense is to double-jump over him as he initiates the combo. As you land, immediately turn and unleash a flurry of Shurikens or a quick melee combo.
• Platform Advantage: use the elevated platforms. The Blade Master struggles to follow you precisely when you're airborne. Lure him to one side of the arena, then quickly jump to a higher platform on the opposite side to create distance and pepper him with Shurikens.
• Health Recovery: Keep an eye out for small Health Potions that occasionally drop from the environment when you destroy decorative urns or lanterns. These are crucial for sustaining the fight.

Phase 2: The Heavy Axe Wielder

Once the Swift Blade Master is defeated, his partner, a hulking Axe Wielder, enters the fray. This foe is slower but hits incredibly hard, and his attacks have a wider area of effect.

• Maintain Distance: The Axe Wielder's main attack is a devastating overhead swing that can stun you. His secondary attack is a sweeping horizontal strike. Both are easily avoided by staying at a medium distance. Do NOT get close unless you have a clear opening.
• Ninjitsu Application: This is where your second Art of the Fire Dragon comes in handy. Use it when the Axe Wielder is charging or recovering from a heavy swing to maximize damage and briefly stun him.
• Exploiting Openings: After the Axe Wielder completes a heavy overhead swing, he will be vulnerable for a short period. This is your cue to rush in, land 2-3 melee hits, and then immediately retreat. Do not get greedy.
• Environmental Hazards: Be mindful of the crumbling pillars in the arena. The Axe Wielder's heavy attacks can cause debris to fall, which can damage you if you're too close. Use this to your advantage by baiting him near these structures.
• Final Push: Continue to chip away at his health with Shurikens and quick melee strikes after his attacks. If you're low on Ninjitsu, rely on precise dodges and counter-attacks. Victory is within reach!

Defeating Kageyama's Elite Guard will grant you access to the final confrontation with Kageyama himself. collect any dropped Ninjitsu Scrolls or Health Potions before proceeding.
