Learn how to defeat the terrifying Nurses in Silent Hill: Townfall. Discover their attack patterns, weaknesses, and effective strategies to survive.

Alright, let's talk about the Nurses in Silent Hill: Townfall. They're back, looking just like they did in the movie, and they've got scalpels! These enemies move in these jerky, spasming bursts, and sometimes you'll hear this weird snapshot sound when they move. It's pretty unnerving.

The key thing to know about Nurses is how Alex's actions affect them. If Alex has his flashlight on, or if he's making a lot of noise – like running or bumping into stuff – the Nurse will totally go after him if it's nearby. But, if Alex keeps quiet and the flashlight off, the Nurse will just stand there, motionless, and won't attack. You can even walk right up to them without them reacting, as long as you haven't been running or using the flashlight. They can be a bit unpredictable sometimes, though, especially later in the game.

By the time you get to the Grand Hotel, these Nurses can get pretty brutal. They become more aggressive and might just walk right at you, doing this constant two-hit slash. You'll definitely want to dodge out of the way when that happens. And if you're playing on Hard mode, especially after the hospital nightmare section, they are absolute beasts. That two-hit slash can take Alex down super fast. Your best bet on Hard is usually to just use the handgun from a distance or, honestly, just try to skip them if you can.

Nurse Attacks

  • Scalpel Combo: The Nurse quickly swings its right scalpel hand to the left, then swings it back to the right.
    • Dodge timing: This one's tricky. You need to press the dodge button right as the Nurse holds her scalpel to the side. If you don't manage to get behind her on the first swing, you'll need to dodge both swings.
  • Shouting Scalpel Combo: The Nurse holds up its right hand with the scalpel back, shouts, then steps in with two swings – one to the right, then one to the left.
    • Dodge timing: Dodge to the right as the Nurse holds up her hand. This should put you behind her. You can dodge the second swing like the first, but if you dodge the first one right, you won't need to worry about the second.
  • Overhead Swing: The Nurse steps forward and slashes downward.
    • Dodge timing: Dodge just before the slash connects.
  • Scalpel Stab: The Nurse holds both hands back behind its left side then attempts to plunge the scalpel forward. This usually happens when they're close after a two-hit combo.
    • Dodge timing: Dodge right when the Nurse pulls both arms back.

Nurse Finishers

When a Nurse falls to her knees, you can perform a finisher:

  • Combat Knife/Ceremonial Dagger: Alex grabs the Nurse's head from behind and stabs her in the throat twice.
  • Steel Pipe/Crowbar: Alex swings the pipe into the Nurse's head while she's leaned over, then stabs her with it while she's on the ground.
  • Fire Axe/Pulaski Axe: Alex stands behind the Nurse and chops off her head while she kneels.
