Mercay Island (7)

Your guide to Mercay Island in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass! Get Linebeck's Ship Part, solve puzzles, and unlock Tag Mode.

Alright, you've landed back on Mercay Island! First things first, let's check the mailbox. You'll find a letter from Linebeck – he's actually saying thanks for putting up with him and even gives you a Ship Part as a peace offering. Pretty nice of him, right? Makes you wonder if he's up to something, but hey, free stuff!

Now, head north towards the temple. Before you get too far, remember that hole you blew in the wall earlier? Swing back by there. You'll need to cross some platforms, and then use your Bow to shoot the eye on the north wall. This will extend a bridge, letting you get to the other side. Watch out for the Lizard Man waiting for you – take him down!

Once he's dealt with, head back outside and go up the stairs to your right. Look for an eye on the left wall; shoot it to reveal a stone head. Now, this is a bit of a puzzle: activate the beam of light on its forehead, then rotate the head so the beam points northwest, but *not* directly at the temple entrance. Follow the beam of light until it hits a wall, then use a Bomb to blast a hole in it. Head all the way down the stairs, cross the bridge, and climb more stairs to reach the outside again.

Up here, follow the stairs to find a strange man playing a guitar. Chat with him – this is important! Talking to him unlocks Tag Mode, which is a pretty neat feature for playing with friends. You can check out the WiFi Modes section for more details on that.

After unlocking Tag Mode, head back down and step on the switch you'll find. This extends a bridge leading to the main part of the island. Cross it, and you're finally ready to head into the temple!
