How to Beat Boss Weaknesses & Attack Patterns

Conquering the formidable bosses of the Great Sea requires more than just a sharp sword; it demands understanding their unique vulnerabilities and anticipating their devastating attacks. This section provides detailed strategies to help you emerge victorious from every major encounter.

Gohma (Dragon Roost Cavern)

Weaknesses:

• Grappling Hook: Essential for stunning and exposing its eye.
• Sword: Your primary damage dealer once the eye is vulnerable.

Attack Patterns & Strategy:

1. Phase 1: Ceiling Crawl & Fire Breath
   • Gohma will initially cling to the cavern ceiling, occasionally dropping down to breathe fire. The fire breath is easily dodged by rolling or moving to the side.
   • The key here is to target the large, segmented tail that hangs down. Use your Grappling Hook (found within Dragon Roost Cavern) to latch onto the tail.
   • Once latched, Link will swing, pulling Gohma down. This will briefly stun the boss and expose its single, large eye.
   • Immediately switch to your Hero's Sword and unleash a flurry of attacks on the eye. Repeat this process until Gohma takes significant damage.
2. Phase 2: Valoo's Intervention & Magma Pools
   • After a few successful attacks, Gohma will become enraged and begin to move more erratically. Valoo, the dragon, will occasionally slam his tail onto the arena floor, causing rocks to fall.
   • These falling rocks are your next opportunity. Position yourself so that when Valoo slams his tail, a rock falls directly onto Gohma's head. This will stun the boss again.
   • While Gohma is stunned, quickly use your Grappling Hook on its tail once more to pull it down and expose its eye.
   • Continue to attack the eye with your Hero's Sword. Be mindful of the magma pools that appear on the floor; touching them will cause damage.
   • Repeat the rock-stunning and eye-attacking sequence until Gohma is defeated.

Kalle Demos (Forbidden Woods)

Weaknesses:

• Boomerang: Crucial for cutting its tentacles.
• Hero's Sword: For direct damage to its core.

Attack Patterns & Strategy:

1. Phase 1: Tentacle Barrier
   • Kalle Demos, a massive plant-like creature, will initially be encased within a cage of thorny tentacles.
   • The boss will attempt to slam its tentacles down on Link or sweep them across the arena. Dodge these attacks by rolling or running to avoid taking damage.
   • Equip your Boomerang (obtained in Forbidden Woods). Target the base of the tentacles where they connect to the ceiling. You can target up to five tentacles at once.
   • Throw the Boomerang to cut all the targeted tentacles. Repeat this process until all the tentacles holding Kalle Demos to the ceiling are severed.
2. Phase 2: Exposed Core & Slam Attacks
   • Once all tentacles are cut, Kalle Demos will fall to the ground, exposing its glowing, vulnerable core.
   • Immediately switch to your Hero's Sword and attack the core relentlessly.
   • After a short period, Kalle Demos will retract and begin to swing its remaining tentacles wildly, attempting to grab Link. If caught, you'll be slammed against the ground repeatedly, taking significant damage. Mash buttons to escape.
   • The boss will then reattach itself to the ceiling with new tentacles. Repeat the process of using the Boomerang to cut the tentacles and then attacking the exposed core with your Hero's Sword.
   • Continue this cycle, being careful to avoid its grab attacks, until Kalle Demos is vanquished.

Gohdan (Tower of the Gods)

Weaknesses:

• Hero's Bow: For targeting its eyes.
• Bombs: For stunning its hands.
• Hero's Sword: For direct damage to its face.

Attack Patterns & Strategy:

1. Phase 1: Hand Attacks & Eye Shots
   • Gohdan, the colossal stone guardian, will begin by attacking with its massive hands. It will either try to clap Link between its palms or slam a single fist onto the platform.
   • Dodge these hand attacks. When a hand slams down and remains on the platform for a moment, quickly equip your Bombs (found in various locations, ensure you have a good supply).
   • Throw a bomb into the palm of the hand. This will stun the hand and cause an eye to open on its palm.
   • Immediately switch to your Hero's Bow (obtained in Tower of the Gods) and shoot an arrow into the open eye. Repeat this for both hands.
2. Phase 2: Face Attacks & Bomb Vulnerability
   • After both hand-eyes are shot, Gohdan's main face will become active, and two large eyes will open on its forehead.
   • Gohdan will now attempt to breathe fire at Link. Dodge the fire breath by running or rolling.
   • While its face is active, equip your Hero's Bow and shoot arrows into both of its forehead eyes.
   • Once both forehead eyes are hit, Gohdan will fall forward, its face resting on the platform, and its mouth will open.
   • Quickly switch to your Bombs and throw several into its open mouth. Each bomb will deal significant damage.
   • After taking damage, Gohdan will reset, and the cycle will repeat from Phase 1. Continue to stun its hands, shoot its eyes, and bomb its mouth until Gohdan is destroyed.
