There are six companions in The Outer Worlds 2 that can be recruited throughout the game. Recruiting them and completing their personal quest lines can unlock four trophies: Best Friend, One For All, Anything For a Friend, and All For One. Additionally, the companion ability can be used to earn the Got Your Back trophy.
Companions offer several benefits when traveling with your party. They are effective at combat, can increase your carrying capacity, and significantly boost your effective skill levels. The boost to skills can be substantial, especially if you invest points into the Inspiration skill. Companions have their own weapons and armor, but you can equip them with better gear. Items equipped on companions do not degrade, and their weapons do not consume your ammunition.
Companions level up alongside the player. Investing points in Determination increases their health, while Inspiration increases their damage output. They also gain a Perk every five levels, starting at level 5. These Perks can be either generic or companion-specific. Completing a companion's personal quest grants them an additional character-specific perk.

Companions and Supernova Difficulty
On Supernova difficulty, companions die permanently when reduced to 0 HP. To minimize this risk, consider perks like Healthy, Shake It Off, and Second Wind. Be cautious when using melee-focused companion abilities like Parvati, Felix, and SAM against groups of enemies. Set their AI to engage at range if necessary. Until you have invested significantly in Determination, using the Defensive AI setting is recommended over Aggressive.
Parvati Holcomb
Parvati is a mechanic found in Edgewater. She can be recruited immediately after speaking with the mayor.
