Follow Chris and Sam to discover your first Mystery Man clue and learn the shooting mechanics in the Cable Car Station. Master aiming and firing in this early Until Dawn (Remake) chapter.
Alright, so after you make that first big choice, Chris is gonna want to show Sam something cool behind the station. Stick with him, and keep your eyes peeled – you'll spot your very first MYSTERY MAN CLUE pinned to a wall along the way. It's Clue #1, a 'WANTED POSTER', and you'll find it on the outer wall of the lower cable car station. Sam finds it, so make sure you're looking around as her.
Once you've checked out the clue, just keep following Chris. He's leading you to this shooting range that Josh's dad apparently has chilling out behind the station. Get ready for a little cutscene here.
CHRIS
CABLE CAR STATION
21:11
Now you're in control of Chris, and this is your chance to get the hang of aiming and shooting (or throwing!). It's way simpler than it sounds. Just move your controller around to aim your weapon. When your crosshair is right on the target symbol, hit R2 to fire or throw. Keep in mind these are timed, and the further you get in the game, the tighter those windows will be. The best part? You literally cannot miss! If you aim anywhere else and hit R2, nothing happens – no wasted ammo, no penalty. So, if you're feeling shaky with your aim, don't be afraid to just mash that R2 button. It’s a good way to get comfortable without any pressure.
Your first task is to shoot the initial four targets. Sam will chime in with some commentary on your skills. Don't sweat it if the timer runs out; you'll get another shot. Then, you'll have to shoot one of the bottles – pick whichever one you like, it truly makes no difference.
After that, a squirrel pops out. This is where things get interesting because you're presented with your first BUTTERFLY EFFECT decision. Seriously, this choice actually has a pretty significant impact down the line. Here's the lowdown:
- IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO SHOOT THE SQUIRREL, AND SHOOT THE SACK INSTEAD: Chris decides against shooting the squirrel. Nature stays happy, and Chris and Sam's relationship gets a little boost. This helps Sam hide better in Chapter 5 when she's being chased.
- IF YOU CHOOSE TO SHOOT THE SQUIRREL: Chris shoots the squirrel. Nature retaliates – a bird attacks Sam! Chris's 'Charity' meter drops, but oddly, his 'Funny' meter goes up. More importantly, Chris and Sam's relationship takes a hit. Later, in Chapter 5, when Sam hits her head while running, the crow's scratches will open up, leaving a blood trail. This makes it way easier for the psycho to track her, pretty much guaranteeing she gets caught.

- 18WELCOME: Matt acknowledges the awkwardness. His CHARITABLE meter goes DOWN. His relationship with EMILY gets WORSE. His relationship with MIKE gets BETTER.
- 19After Mike leaves, Emily wants to go to the station to talk to Sam. Matt has another choice:
- AGREE: Matt agrees to take the bags. Emily stays in a good mood. His CHARITABLE meter goes UP. His ROMANTIC meter goes UP. His relationship with EMILY gets BETTER.
- 20PERSIST: Emily feels Matt is over-protective. Matt takes the bags anyway. His ROMANCE meter goes DOWN. His relationship with EMILY gets WORSE.
- 21Both options can affect Emily's reaction in Chapter 6.

Learn how to handle the bird encounter and make crucial choices that affect Jessica and Mike's relationship in Until Dawn (Remake).
Alright, so you're with Jess and Mike, and a bird lands nearby. The game's gonna try and trick you here, telling you to do nothing. And guess what? It's right! If you remember a Guidance Totem with a bird on it, this is that moment. Leave the bird alone, and Mike will reveal himself so you can finally throw that snowball at him.
Just wait for the timer on the bird's target to run out. As soon as it does, Mike pops out from behind a tree, a target appears over him, and BAM – throw that snowball!
Heads up: If you mess up and actually hit the bird, it'll fall and die. This freaks Jessica out and throws Mike off. The dialogue changes a bit, and you'll have to nail a Quick Time Event (QTE) later.
After some super cheesy dialogue, Mike catches up to Jessica, and they tumble to the ground. You'll get a choice:
| YOUR CHOICE | RESULT |
| KISS MIKE | Mike and Jessica kiss, and after some more corny exchanges they continue to the lodge. Jessica's BRAVERY metre goes DOWN. Jessica's ROMANTIC metre goes UP. Jessica's CURIOSITY metre goes UP. Jessica and Mike like each other more. |
| GRAB SNOWBALL | Jessica grabs a snowball and chucks it in Mike's face. He takes it in his stride before they both continue to the lodge. Jessica's FUNNY metre goes UP. |
| DO NOTHING | Skips ahead to the next scene. Jess and Mike like each other less. |
Now, remember that if you hit the bird earlier, an icicle will fall towards them, and you'll need to press the TRIANGLE BUTTON to dodge it. Don't worry too much if you miss this QTE, you won't die.
After this, Jess and Mike head to the cable car station.
