Alright, let's talk about what you'll be doing in each stage of Yoshi's Island DS! It's all about grabbing goodies and keeping Yoshi safe. You start each level with 10 stars, which are basically your health bar. If an enemy hits you, your baby flies off in a bubble, and you start losing stars. If you don't grab the baby before you hit zero, you lose a life. But hey, once you get the baby back, you'll regain stars, topping out at 10 again. Think of those extra stars you collect as a buffer – they give you more time to save the baby if you get hit.

Keep an eye out for 20 red coins in every level. They look like regular gold coins but make a distinct sound when you collect them. Don't forget, you can shoot eggs at them to grab them from a distance!

There are also five flowers hidden in each stage. Snagging all five is super important because it nets you an extra life! Plus, at the end of the stage, the Goal Ring will show how many flowers you've collected. If you land on a flower space when jumping through the ring, you'll get a chance at a bonus stage. You can even use Yoshi's eggs to collect these flowers, just like the coins.

Now, for the really special collectible: the character coin. There's one of these big gold coins in each level. The catch? You can only grab it while you're carrying the correct baby on Yoshi's back. If you don't have the right baby, the coin will just look like an empty outline. Once you snag it, make sure you finish the stage to keep it forever. Some character coins might be in areas you can't reach with the baby you have early on, so don't worry – you can always come back later in the game to grab them.

Finally, when you reach the end of a non-boss stage, you'll find the Goal Ring. This ring fills up with the flowers you collected during the level. If you jump through the ring and the spinning bonus ball lands on a flower, you'll get to play a fun mini-game for extra lives. If it lands on an empty slot, you'll just move on to the next level.
