Learn critical intel for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War survival, including zombie kiting strategies and revive timer mechanics.
Walkthrough
- 1When a certain number of zombies spawn, they will stop until one is killed. Avoiding zombies will cause them to chase you indefinitely without further spawning, a tactic known as kiting or training. While this can be effective, especially solo in confined spaces, rounds only end after a set number of zombies are killed. This strategy becomes default in advanced play (round 65+).
- 2When training zombies, avoid weapons or items that quickly eliminate large swarms, such as anything outside of LMGs and the Death Machine. If you acquire such a weapon while training, drop it immediately. Also avoid item pickups like the Sprinkler, Sentry Gun, or SAM Turret.
- 3In team play, a player who dies with zero lives remaining has a 60-second (30 seconds with the Chalice fate) respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) timer. A living player standing over a downed player's body can reduce this timer. The time reduction per reviving player is: 1 player = 2 seconds/real-life second, 2 players = 3 seconds/real-life second, 3 players = 4 seconds/real-life second. If a player has Divine Chalice, they should be the sole reviver as others cannot revive faster than the Chalice holder.
- 4In solo play, always keep at least one key to trade for an extra life. You can trade for a maximum of three extra lives, once per game. Keys cannot be traded during the Mamaback boss fight.
- 5In multiplayer, you can donate a life to a downed teammate who has zero lives remaining. Avoid doing this unless absolutely necessary, as lives are hard-earned. The only exception is if you have the Fate of the Divine Chalice, which grants rewards (nukes, boosts, shield items, a vehicle) to both the donor and receiver.
- 6If you are out of speed bursts, you will start the next round with one. If you have the Furious Feet perk, you start with two. You always start a round with at least one nuke; use it if you only have one. If you have Divine Shield, you start the next round with two nukes.
- 7While in a vehicle, you can pick up treasure, gems, nukes, speed boosts, and extra lives. You cannot pick up weapons or item powerups like Sentry Guns, Wunderwaffles, or Monkey Bombs.
- 8In advanced rounds, driving a vehicle into water will eject you and put you back on foot.
- 9Entering and leaving first-person mode (FPM) grants 3-5 seconds of invincibility. Use this to run through zombies and save ammo for your secondary weapon.
- 10While in FPM, do not use your armory. You can take multiple hits from regular zombies before dying. After taking your second hit, cancel out of FPM and return to the overhead view to save armory and gain another 3 seconds of invincibility.
- 11In The Wild, flip the camera view to potentially spot hidden items, treasure, or chests that might otherwise be unseen.
- 12Do not use keys on simple chests before passing the Room of Fate. Save keys for essential uses like opening locked doors.
- 13If you encounter an arcade machine bonus area, collect both bonus lives (and keys, if applicable) before leaving.
- 14To survive past round 65, it is advised to ignore bonus fates in the Deadly Dungeons from Margwas and obtain them through the Room of Judgement instead. The Room of Judgement allows you to get specific fates, offering more control than the random awards from Deadly Dungeons.
- 15In multiplayer, players should call out nuke drops (e.g., "RED NUKE") to prevent two players from dropping nukes simultaneously and wasting armory.
Tips
- Kiting zombies can be an effective strategy, especially in smaller arenas or when playing solo.
- Prioritize reviving downed teammates quickly in multiplayer to avoid losing lives.
- Conserve armory by utilizing the invincibility frames when entering and exiting first-person mode.
- Save your keys for critical moments, such as opening locked doors, rather than simple chests.
- Focus on obtaining specific fates from the Room of Judgement for better control over your gameplay in advanced rounds.
