Navigate The Wild in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War between rounds 4-5. Find the crucial arcade machine and discover hidden areas and valuable loot.
For the first time, you find yourself out in the open with a clear objective to get the hell out of there so you can get back to smacking around the forces of Mamaback. As you are about to find out, The Wild is far different from your usual zombie arena. If your objective is simply to get out of here, all you have to do is follow the green icon that leads you to the exit. It's that simple. If you want to explore a little and find some goodies (you do)...read on...
NOTE:You have one critical mission to complete in this section of The Wild - FIND AN ARCADE MACHINE.
Why? Depending on the level you play, the arcade machine may provide a chance at another key. This is crucial if you want a chance to proceed immediately into the Wild area normally started at round 36. It can be found in one of 5 different locations, each of which will be covered here.
At the start of this level you will see a few doorways with small rooms. Go into them and bust open the pots for some treasure. Take note that sometimes in the bottom left corner there will be an arcade machine (1/5) that will transport you to a hidden bonus area. Continue out westward and you will see a room that is locked by a key, sometimes containing an arcade machine (2/5) and some items that will make the rest of the level a little easier for awhile. DO NOT USE A KEY ON THIS DOOR! We will open it via different means in a moment... Continue on upward and destroy any zombie spawn pods you run across. They will spawn endlessly until destroyed.
You will see in this area some Roman pillars on either side of the path...
On the right side of the pillar which I have highlighted is a hidden switch. You can step on it which will lower a platform containing an item. It could be a key, vehicle, item, etc. Hopefully you get a key from it. If playing solo you will need to use a speed boost to get it. Otherwise, you cannot obtain this item unless you play with a team. Once you leave the switch, the platform raises back up again. Regardless, get on that elevator platform if possible and ride it all the way up. Once there, position yourself toward the cage with the locked down in the bottom left of this area. Once positioned, boost directly at the cage and you will drop in allowing you to pickup all the items there without wasting a key on the door. Don't worry about exiting either. There is a jump pad inside that will bounce you back out.
Moving along, continue north to a bottle-necked area which is layered with hidden spike traps. Take your time here and move across the spikes when it is safe to do so. Once passing through, IMMEDIATELY look to the right. Beneath the fence is the spawn location for another possible arcade machine (3/5). Regardless, pick up the treasures and destroy all the zombie spawn pods you see. Once cleared, head north. You will come to a fork in the path. Bear to the left and you will eventually run across a second fork. Keep left again at this next fork and you will come to a cave that will take you to a Deadly Dungeon which contains even more goodies and baddies. When you come out of the Deadly Dungeon, turn left and head north. Hug the left side of the forest and if lucky you will run into a possible arcade machine (4/5). If you go right at this second fork, continue heading north and you will eventually come to the exit portal that takes you back to the regular levels.
Going back to the first fork which we encountered after passing through the spiked bottleneck, bear to the right and you will go along a stone path that eventually passes a temple on the righthand side.
You can enter it for a bonus area known as the Abandoned Temple. I HIGHLY recommend entering. Worst case scenario, there are a ton of free speed boosts in there.
If you are trying to reach the Room of Fate immediately rather than waiting for post round 20, you have the option to continue onward past the temple. It leads to a bridge guarded by spike traps and shock towers. You will come up to a locked gate requiring a key. If you head inside, there are a bunch of crates on the left containing items. There may also be an arcade machine (5/5) item spawn in the small alcove.
You will finally notice two doors inside this tower, which both require keys. The one to the left leads to an area which contains a number of good pickups, including some extra lives and some armored zombies. If you wish, you can then head north past that area on a trail that leads to yet another locked gate. Beyond that is a dark, trap infested tunnel with some nova crawlers and a very difficult battle with the Blightfather. If you manage to kill him (and open all 3 chests in that room, you can earn up to 4 massive sized gems. Very handy for building your multiplier, especially if you are going for the 7x multiplier calling card.
The one to the north leads to the next part of the Wild which normally begins after round 36.
NOTE:Regardless of which path you choose, both will take you to the Fire Mountain and the Fate Altar. 5 keys will be required to make it to the Mountain either way. You will also need an additional 1-2 keys for the Fate Altar, depending on how many players you have.
