Follow our Deus Ex: Human Revolution walkthrough for the 'Back in the Saddle' mission. Learn about objectives, character interactions, and crucial early-game choices.
Walkthrough
- 1After the opening cutscene, you'll have new prosthetic arms, legs, implants, and a glitchy HUD. Your first objective is to fix the HUD. You start with 2500 credits and 120 XP.
- 2Speak with the receptionist, Cindy Martinez, for directions to Pritchard's office, the helipad, Sarif's penthouse, and your own office.
- 3Find Frank Pritchard in the security tech lab. Before that, you can speak with employees on the ground floor about yourself; your dialogue choice doesn't significantly impact the outcome but provides background info.
- 4Consider eavesdropping on a woman in the women's restroom for potential hidden information.
- 5Head up the stairs to the Technology Lab on the same floor to meet Frank Pritchard. You can choose to ignore or confront him about his attitude. Confronting him leads to a longer conversation and more details about Jensen. You gain [150 XP].
- 6On Pritchard's desk, you can find the first [Hugh Darrow eBook 3: The Nature of Neuroplasticity]. There are 29 such eBooks in the game, each worth 200 XP (5800 XP total) and contributing to an achievement/trophy.
- 7From Pritchard's desk, take the [CYBERBOOST PROENERGY BAR] and [91 CREDIT CHIPS] from his bench. You can also examine the poster of Final Fantasy XXVII and Pritchard's old monitors.
- 8Head to the far side of the second floor and go through the double doors. Turn left to reach the helipad where Faridah Malik is waiting.
- 9After speaking with Faridah, board the heli to receive your debrief from David. You gain [150 XP].
- 10David will inform you that the manufacturing plant has been invaded by 'Purity First', led by Zeke Sanders. You will be given the option to choose a lethal or non-lethal approach and a short-range or distant combat style. These choices determine the weapon you receive.
Tips
- The Combat Rifle is generally not recommended as better options become available soon.
- The Tranquilizer Rifle is a good choice for stealthy, non-lethal takedowns due to its silence, rarity, and cost.
- DLC and pre-order bonuses can provide advantages but are not essential to complete the game.
- The achievement/trophy 'Doctorate' requires reading all 29 unique XP books in a single playthrough.
- 150 XP from meeting Pritchard.
- 150 XP from debriefing with David.
- Potential weapon choice (e.g., Tranquilizer Rifle, GEP Gun) based on dialogue.
- Various items: Hugh Darrow eBook, CYBERBOOST PROENERGY BAR, 91 CREDIT CHIPS.
