Complete walkthrough for Part 25 of Donkey Kong Country Returns, covering the Mangoruby Run and Blast & Bounce levels, including all puzzle pieces and secrets.
Walkthrough
- 1Mangoruby Run: This is a boss fight against the Mangoruby. Your objective is to ground-pound all the blue, triangular switches on climbable surfaces. Once all switches are activated, jump on the Mangoruby's body to score a hit. Touching the Mangoruby before hitting the switches results in an electric shock. The boss will chase you and later drop electric bombs that create shockwaves. Three hits are required to defeat it.
- 2Blast & Bounce: This level is primarily about barrel cannoning with very little solid ground.
- 3Puzzle Piece 1: Right at the beginning, after the first set of tiki buzzes, drop down between the first two barrel cannons. A barrel cannon below will return you to the normal route.
- 4Puzzle Piece 2: During a barrel cannon sequence, aim for the top-right. Fire from the barrel at the top-right, aiming up and right, to reach the puzzle piece.
- 5Puzzle Piece 3: After the first section with tires, while bouncing on tiki buzzes, perform a full bounce off the higher of two stacked tiki buzzes above a blast barrel to get a puzzle piece.
- 6Puzzle Piece 4: In a section with two tiki zings guarding a puzzle piece above three tires, wait for the right timing. Bounce over the tiki zing as it passes under the puzzle piece to land safely back on the tires.
- 7Puzzle Piece 5: In the section after a short set of tires, fire from the second barrel cannon. Aim from the very top of the barrel's trajectory to get the puzzle piece and skip the next barrel cannon.
Tips
- Mangoruby Fight: If you touch the Mangoruby before hitting all switches, you'll get shocked. The boss gets faster and drops more bombs after each hit.
- Barrel Cannon Timing: When facing tiki zings, focus on timing the more complicated barrel first, as the timing will often be similar for simpler ones.
- Tire Section: In the section with tires, you can stay on them as long as needed to plan your next move.
- Interlocking Rings: In the final section of Blast & Bounce, time your barrel cannon fire carefully to navigate through interlocking rings of moving barrels without hitting tiki zings. Aim when the tiki zing has just passed the barrel you are in, moving in the same direction you intend to fire.
