Mentoring & Level Sync

Understand EverQuest II's Mentoring and Level Sync systems for seamless group play across different character levels.

The Mentoring and Level Sync systems in EverQuest II are designed to facilitate group play across different levels, allowing high-level players to adventure with lower-level friends without trivializing content or making it impossible for the lower-level player to contribute.

Mentoring:

When a higher-level player 'mentors' a lower-level player, the mentor's effective level is temporarily reduced to be closer to the mentee's level. This means the mentor's stats, spell/ability ranks, and gear effectiveness are scaled down. This allows the mentor to participate in lower-level content, gain experience (albeit scaled down), and still contribute meaningfully without one-shotting every enemy. To mentor, right-click on a player's portrait and select 'Mentor'. You can adjust the mentor level to a specific target.

Level Sync:

Level Sync is an automatic system that applies in certain zones or instances. When you enter a level-synced area, your character's level, stats, and gear are automatically adjusted to a predetermined level for that zone. This ensures that content remains challenging and relevant, regardless of your actual character level. It's particularly common in older expansion content or specific event zones, allowing players to revisit classic areas and still have a meaningful experience.

Both systems are invaluable for community interaction and for experiencing the vast amount of content EverQuest II has to offer, regardless of your character's progression stage. They encourage players to group up and explore together, fostering a more connected community.
