Guide to Final Fantasy V's Wind Shrine, including the Wing Raptor boss, treasure chests, and obtaining new Jobs from the Wind Crystal.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
On 1F, talk to the people from Tycoon to learn the King is missing and monsters are present. Talk to the man left of the pot for 5 Potions. Examine the pot to restore HP, MP, and status, and revive fallen party members. Proceed to the stairs on the right.
  2. 2
On 2F, find a chest with a Tent on the far left. Enter the middle door to find a save spot. Save your game and proceed through the bottom door. You can take either the left or right stairs to 3F; use the right stairs first.
  3. 3
On 3F, open the chest containing a Leather Cap. Return to 2F and take the left stairs. Go up slightly and find a secret passage through the right wall. Enter the door to find a chest with a Broadsword. Ignore the empty room on the other side of the floor. Approach the large bird to trigger a battle with the Wing Raptor.
  4. 4
After defeating the Wing Raptor (Level 1, 250 HP, weak to nothing, no Blue Magic, can steal Potion), proceed up the stairs to 4F.
  5. 5
On 4F, find a secret passage in the bottom right corner leading to a chest with a Staff. Enter the center door.
  6. 6
In the Crystal Room, examine the large door. After a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically), the Wind Crystal shards will grant essences to the party: Faris (Fire/Courage), Lenna (Water/Devotion), Galuf (Earth/Hope), and Bartz (Wind/Passion). King Tycoon will appear, declare you Warriors of Light, and task you with protecting the other Crystals before disappearing. You will receive new Jobs: Knight, Monk, Blue Mage, Thief, Black Mage, and White Mage. It is recommended to equip Jobs like Knight, Thief, White Mage, and Blue Mage initially. Consider equipping the Learning ability (Blue Mage Level 2) and Find Passages (Thief Level 1) as you progress. To maximize learning Blue Magic, equip the Learning ability on all characters and allow them to be hit by the magic. Magic learned or bought is party-wide. Re-equip all characters as equipment is Job-specific. A warp at the back of the room leads outside.
  7. 7
To learn Blue Magic, re-enter the Wind Shrine. Goblin Punch can be learned from Black Goblins (Level 7, 20 HP, weak to nothing, drops Leather Shoes, can steal Potion, uses Goblin Punch). Aero can be learned from Moldwynds (Level 4, 25 HP, weak to Ice, drops nothing, can steal Potion, uses Aero). The character with the Learning ability equipped must be hit by the magic to learn it. Learning these now is not essential as opportunities will arise later.
  8. 8
Exit the shrine, board the ship, and return to Tule.
Tips
  • The pot on 1F restores HP, MP, and status, and revives fallen party members.
  • The Wing Raptor uses its wings as a shield; attacks during this time will do no damage and trigger a strong counterattack. Wait until it spreads its wings again to attack.
  • To learn Blue Magic, ensure the character with the Learning ability equipped is targeted by the spell.
  • Consider equipping the Learning ability on all characters to facilitate learning Blue Magic.
  • Re-equip all characters after obtaining new Jobs, as equipment is Job-dependent.
