Lake Macalania

At the Macalania Travel Agency, approach Clasko and tell him "Chocobo Breeder" when prompted.

Collect Al Bhed Primer XVI from the west side of the building.

Save your game inside the agency. You can use the Item Shop and Equipment Shop inside, and O'aka outside also runs an Item Shop and an Equipment Shop with the same inventory and pricing as in Macalania Woods. The agency's Equipment Shop sells a no-slot Longsword, which is only available here and will soon become unavailable.

Warning: This is your final opportunity to return to most previous areas in Spira until Act 3. Besaid Village will be guarded by a superboss after this point if you are playing International, PAL, or a Remaster version. As soon as you advance far enough along the western path to see a scene, you will be locked in to finishing the Act. If you wish to backtrack, leave the Agency and head for the southeast exit to return to Macalania Woods.

Equip your party with any Lightningstrike Weapons you can find.

Continue west until a scene plays, then proceed to the next screen.

You will immediately enter a battle against the boss, Crawler.

Crawler deals heavy damage and is accompanied by Negator, which locks out White Magic (Wht Magic), Black Magic (Blk Magic), and Summon commands while present. Aeons already present when Negator respawns are not dismissed but cannot use Wht Magic or Blk Magic.

Defeating Negator causes Crawler to count down from three, using Mana Beam, a powerful magical attack against the whole party, on its fourth turn after Negator is destroyed. During this time, Crawler has a 50% chance to counter any damage with Assault.

Negator respawns after Mana Beam, or if Crawler is hit by magical attacks four times. If Negator spawns during the countdown, the countdown continues but Mana Beam is aborted.

To defeat Crawler: Wakka should attack Negator while others attack Crawler and keep healed.

Once Negator falls, cast Slow on Crawler with Tidus, then Haste on Lulu. A Silver Hourglass on Crawler can also Slow it, and a Chocobo Feather on Lulu can Haste her, both ignoring Negator.

Have Tidus use Delay Attack on Crawler, and Lulu use Thundara. You can cast Haste on Wakka to speed up Negator kills.

When Negator respawns, switch to physical attacks on Crawler while keeping healed.

After Crawler's countdown ends, defeat Negator quickly while Crawler is in stasis. Repeat the process.

After the battle, watch the scenes.

Open the Mega-Potion chest.

Head through the doorway into Macalania Temple Exterior.

Collect the 400 Gil.
