Walkthrough

    On the Salvage Ship, head to the northeastern corner to find Al Bhed Primer I. These primers help decipher the Al Bhed language throughout the game.

    Use the Save Sphere.

    Speak to the northernmost man for 3 Potions.

    Listen to the unskippable tutorial from the girl. After it, teach Tidus Cheer using an Ability Sphere on the Sphere Grid. Remember to use the Sphere Grid to strengthen characters.

    If you obtain a Power Sphere, use it to activate the HP Node near ????'s starting position on the Sphere Grid to improve durability.

    When ready, speak to the girl again. You can return to the ship by swimming if needed. Enemies here can be Stealed from for Grenades. Follow the chain down to the Underwater Ruins.

    In the Underwater Ruins, use the Save Sphere.

  • Strategy: Tros primarily uses a physical attack. After losing 350 HP, it retreats and uses Stand By (healing itself). It will then use Nautilus Charge, dealing heavy damage. After losing another 350 HP, it retreats again. Use Pincer Attack (available at this point) to prevent Tros from retreating and avoid a second Nautilus Charge. If Pincer Attack is not used, Power Spheres will drop; otherwise, they won't. Defend against Nautilus Charge to reduce damage. Grenades are effective offensively and can be Stolen from Tros.
  1. After defeating Tros, watch the scenes.
  2. Leave the Underwater Ruins and swim towards the marker. Watch the subsequent scenes.
  3. Save your game. Speak to Rikku again.
  4. You will be prompted to save your game, marking the end of the Prologue.
Tips
  • Al Bhed Primers are crucial for understanding the Al Bhed language. Collect them all for a major reward.
  • The Sphere Grid is essential for character progression. Use Ability and Power Spheres to learn abilities and activate nodes.
  • Returning to the Salvage Ship can yield infinite Potions from the northern-most man, but it's generally not necessary as you'll acquire plenty soon.
