How to Beat Skorge

Beat Gears of War 2's Skorge by countering his dual-bladed staff and Ticker summons atop the Brumak. Master the phases of this Locust boss.

Skorge is the High Priest of the Locust and a formidable opponent, encountered multiple times throughout the campaign. Your final confrontation with him takes place atop a Brumak. Skorge wields a dual-bladed staff that also functions as a chainsaw, making him deadly in close quarters. He also has the ability to summon Tickers and perform powerful ground slams. The fight has two main phases. Phase 1: On the Brumak. Your primary objective is to damage Skorge while he's riding the Brumak. Focus fire on Skorge directly with your Lancer or Hammerburst. When he jumps off, he'll summon Tickers. Prioritize shooting the Tickers before they reach you. Skorge will also throw Ink Grenades; move out of the ink clouds immediately. Phase 2: Direct Confrontation. After enough damage, Skorge will dismount and engage you directly. He's incredibly agile and will try to close the distance for melee attacks. Use your Gnasher or Sawed-Off Shotgun when he gets close, but quickly retreat to cover. When he charges, dodge roll ('A' + Left Stick) to avoid his attacks. His weakness is when he pauses after a combo; this is your window to unleash damage. Active reloads are crucial here. Keep moving, use cover, and don't get caught in his melee range. The Brumak will also occasionally attack, so be aware of its stomps and fire. Eventually, you'll down Skorge, leading to a cinematic finish.
