The Mentoring System in Lineage II is a fantastic way for seasoned veterans to guide new or returning players, fostering a stronger community and providing significant benefits to both parties. This system allows high-level characters (Mentors) to form a special bond with lower-level characters (Apprentices), offering assistance, advice, and a shared path to progression.

Becoming a Mentor or Apprentice

To participate in the Mentoring System, you must meet specific level requirements:

• Mentor Eligibility: Your character must be Level 85 or higher.
• Apprentice Eligibility: Your character must be between Level 1 and Level 84.

Once eligible, you can initiate the mentoring process:

1. Locate a Mentor/Apprentice: You can find potential partners by advertising in town chat, through your clan, or by simply approaching players who meet the criteria.
2. Forming the Bond:
   • The prospective Mentor must target the prospective Apprentice.
   • Right-click on the Apprentice's character portrait or use the command /mentor invite [Apprentice Name].
   • The Apprentice will receive a prompt to accept the mentorship.
3. Confirmation: Upon acceptance, both players will see a system message confirming the establishment of the Mentor-Apprentice relationship. A special icon will also appear next to their names in the party window.

Important Note: An Apprentice can only have one Mentor at a time. A Mentor can have multiple Apprentices, though the exact number may vary depending on server settings or specific game updates.

Benefits of Mentoring

Both Mentors and Apprentices gain valuable rewards and advantages from participating in this system.

For Apprentices

• Experience Boost: While grouped with their Mentor, Apprentices receive a significant bonus to earned experience and SP. This accelerates their leveling process, especially in early to mid-game content.
• Mentoring Buffs: Mentors can cast special buffs on their Apprentices, enhancing their combat capabilities and survivability. These buffs are often superior to standard self-buffs or those from lower-level support characters.
• Guidance and Knowledge: Access to a knowledgeable veteran who can provide advice on quests, gear, skill builds, hunting grounds, and general game mechanics.
• Mentoring Mark: Upon reaching Level 85, an Apprentice receives a special "Mentoring Mark" item. This item can be exchanged for various rewards, including rare crafting materials, enchant scrolls, or even unique cosmetic items, by speaking to the Mentoring Manager NPC located in major cities like Aden, Goddard, or Rune.

For Mentors

• Mentor Points: Mentors earn "Mentor Points" as their Apprentices gain experience and level up while grouped. These points are a valuable currency.
• Mentor Certificate: When an Apprentice reaches Level 85, their Mentor receives a "Mentor Certificate." This certificate is a key item for exchanging high-value rewards.
• Mentor Shop: Mentor Points and Mentor Certificates can be exchanged with the Mentoring Manager NPC for exclusive items. The Mentor Shop offers a wide array of goods, including:
  • High-grade Enchant Scrolls: Scroll: Enchant Weapon (R-Grade), Scroll: Enchant Armor (R-Grade).
  • Attribute Crystals: Fire Crystal, Water Crystal, Earth Crystal, Wind Crystal, Holy Crystal, Dark Crystal.
  • Life Stones: High-grade Life Stones for augmenting R-Grade equipment.
  • Special Consumables: Potions, Elixirs, and other utility items.
  • Rare Crafting Materials: Materials needed for crafting top-tier equipment.
• Community Contribution: The satisfaction of helping new players and contributing to the health of the Lineage II community.

Effective Mentoring Strategies

To maximize the benefits for both Mentor and Apprentice, consider these strategies:

• Communication is Key: Regularly communicate with your Apprentice. Ask about their goals, offer advice, and plan your hunting sessions together.
• Optimal Hunting Grounds: Guide your Apprentice to appropriate hunting zones that offer good experience and drops for their level. Examples include:
  • Levels 1-40: Talking Island Village, Elven Forest, Dark Elf Village, Orc Village starter zones.

• Manual Termination: Either the Mentor or the Apprentice can choose to terminate the relationship prematurely. This can be done through the Mentoring UI (accessible via the System Menu) or by speaking to the Mentoring Manager NPC. Be aware that terminating early may forfeit some potential rewards.
