Boss: Chaunsey (2)

Learn how to defeat Chauncey in Luigi's Mansion! This guide covers his rocking horse and ball attacks, and how to get the key.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Boss: Chauncey
• Weakness: Vulnerable after being hit by his own projectiles.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Rocking Horses & Balls Chauncey starts by sending two rocking horses at you. They move side-to-side off-screen as they advance, making them tricky to dodge. Just try to run away from their direction and hope for the best! After the horses, he'll throw balls at you. Watch their pattern to dodge them effectively.
2. Phase 2: Vulnerability & Bounce Once you've dodged his attacks, a ball will likely be left on the floor. Vacuum it up and shoot it back at Chauncey. This will stun him briefly, but he'll break free. He then starts bouncing around the room very quickly. Your best bet is to move to the extreme right or left sides of the bed, where he won't be able to reach you.
3. Phase 3: Faster Attacks & Double Horses Chauncey repeats his attacks, but faster. In this second attempt, he'll send two rocking horses at you simultaneously. To avoid them, don't stand in the middle. Position yourself so that one of the horses might miss you as they move from left to right.
4. Phase 4: Final Hit & Key Retrieval You'll likely defeat him on this second attempt. Once he's stunned and safe in your Poltergust 3000, quickly grab the key from the chest.

Strategy:

• When the rocking horses come at you, just run in the opposite direction. They move side-to-side, so try to anticipate their path.
• For the balls, pay close attention to their trajectory and dodge accordingly.
• After you hit him with his own projectile, he'll become a bouncing hazard. Hug the edges of the bed to stay safe.
• In the second round with the rocking horses, try to position yourself so they don't hit you directly. Their left-to-right movement can sometimes work in your favor if you're not in the dead center.
• Be persistent! It might take a couple of tries to get the timing right, but keep at it.
