The Portrificationizer Room

Learn about the Portrificationizer in Luigi's Mansion, how ghosts become paintings, and the value of every item from coins (5,000 G) to gold diamonds (20,000,000 G).

After each cleared area in Luigi's Mansion, you will return to the Portrificationizer Room. Here, E. Gadd's Portrificationizer transforms caught Portrait Ghosts into paintings. Once an area is beaten, Luigi empties his vacuum cleaner into the machine, and the ghosts undergo procedures before becoming paintings. They are then moved to the Gallery, and a screen displays your total money (G) collected.

Monetary Values in Luigi's Mansion:

All items collected in Luigi's Mansion give you money (G), except for Mario's dropped items and keys. Each time you clear an area, your collected items are converted into G, with more G leading to a better ending. The worth of each item is as follows:

• Coin: 5,000 G
• Paper Money: 20,000 G
• Gold Bar: 100,000 G
• Blue Gem: 500,000 G
• Green Gem: 800,000 G
• Red Gem: 1,000,000 G
• Diamond: 2,000,000 G
• Red Diamond: 5,000 G
• Gold Diamond: 20,000,000 G
• Small Pearl: 50,000 G
• Medium Pearl: 100,000 G
• Big Pearl: 1,000,000 G

Item Locations and Quantities:

• Coins: Found everywhere. Losing energy causes you to lose coins. (+1300)
• Paper Money: Found everywhere. (+1300)
• Gold Bar: Found everywhere. Approximately 70 exist.
• Blue/Green/Red Gem: More are found in "The Mansion" than in "The Hidden Mansion" (around 10 each in "The Mansion", 5 in "The Hidden Mansion"). They appear in random places. Some Golden Mice and Money Ghosts in "The Mansion" hold them.
• Blue Gem Locations: Chest in the Hidden Room (1F), plant on the balcony next to the Wardrobe Room (2F), bucket in the Butler's Room (1F), plant in the Guest Room, lamp in the Secret Altar (BF).
• Green Gem Locations: Chest in the Hidden Room (1F), plant in the Master Bedroom (2F), plant in the Courtyard (1F), 2 in plants on the Balcony (3F). Approximately 4,000,000 G in total value.
• Red Gem Locations: Chest in the Hidden Room (1F), stove in the kitchen's oven (1F) (requires fire spray), drainpipe in the Graveyard (1F), cupboard in the Tea Room (2F), jar in Ceramics Studio (3F). Approximately 5,000,000 G in total value.
• Diamond: Found in optional rooms. Golden Mice and Money Ghosts in "The Hidden Mansion" hold these, yielding about 30 diamonds in that mansion and 5 in "The Mansion". This amounts to 15 from Money Ghosts, 10 from Golden Mice, and 5 from optional rooms, totaling approximately 60,000,000 G in "The Hidden Mansion".
• Red Diamonds: Found in a plant on the Balcony (3F), and one is obtained after beating King Boo, for a total of 2. They are worth 5,000 G each, totaling 10,000 G.
• Gold Diamonds: Two are found. One is obtained by catching all 50 Boos, and the other by watering the plant in the Boneyard three times. These yield a total of 40,000,000 G.
• Pearls: Obtained by catching Portrait Ghosts. If every ghost is caught on the first try, you will have 76 small (3,800,000 G), 76 medium (7,600,000 G), and 19 big (19,000,000 G) pearls by the end of the game, totaling 30,400,000 G. If you perform worse, there will be more small and medium pearls than big ones.

The Different Endings in Luigi's Mansion:

Luigi's Mansion features different endings determined by the total amount of G collected. There are 8 ranks, displayed with a building and a number after the credits. The building's size and appearance improve with higher ranks.

• Rank A: Requires 100,000,001 G (NTSC) or 150,000,001 G (PAL). This rank is achievable in "The Hidden Mansion" by collecting diamonds from Money Ghosts and Golden Mice (worth 2,000,000 G each), catching all Portrait Ghosts on the first try for big pearls (1,000,000 G), and collecting all other items. A huge mansion appears with the text: "Congratulations! Your mansion is complete."
• Rank B: 70,000,001 - 150,000,000 G. A big mansion appears with the text: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW mansion!".
• Rank C: 60,000,001 - 70,000,000 G. A small mansion appears with the text: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW mansion!".
• Rank D: 50,000,001 - 60,000,000 G. A large house appears with the text: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW mansion!".
• Rank E: 40,000,001 - 50,000,000 G. A rather large house appears with the text: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW mansion!".
• Rank F: 20,000,001 - 40,000,000 G. A small house appears with the text: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW mansion!".
• Rank G: 5,000,001 - 20,000,000 G. A very small house appears with the text: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW mansion!".
