The game does not heavily stress the strength of certain weapon types against enemy defenses (the specific types of armor or shields enemies possess). Each weapon in your arsenal describes its strengths and weaknesses. Later-game weapons tend to have fewer or reduced weaknesses compared to earlier ones.
