Guide to navigating the Reaper's Mass Effect Core. Learn strategies for defeating Husks, Abominations, and Scions, and find valuable items and upgrades.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Engage in sniper rifle combat followed by an encounter with approximately eight Husks. Collect ammo from the station.
  2. 2
Upon reaching the bottom of a ramp, prepare for another wave of enemies including an Abomination and a Scion. Utilize backpedaling and cover if needed.
  3. 3
Proceed up the ramp and collect items. Near the second terminal, more Husks will spawn, but without a Scion this time.
  4. 4
The next wave, encountered at the bottom of the ramp past a Med Kit, will include a Scion, an Abomination, and numerous Husks.
  5. 5
As you approach the Reaper's mass effect core, expect waves featuring two Scions. Prioritize eliminating Husks first, then focus on the Scions. A Shotgun upgrade can be found below after this wave.
  6. 6
Near an explosive crate, prepare for two Scions and fewer Husks. Deal with the Husks to isolate and defeat the Scions, avoiding their slow-motion attacks.
  7. 7
In the room with the Power Cells, two more Scions and several Husks will appear. Husks may spawn slower here, allowing you to potentially defeat the Scions first. Bypass the door. A Wall Safe containing 2500 is located here.
  8. 8
Inside the core, you will be swarmed by Husks in large waves (around 18 per wave) until the Reaper's Core shield opens. You can recuperate and collect items while the shield is down, as it only closes after you've dealt 33% damage to the core.
  9. 9
After destroying the core, escape the area.
  10. 10
Upon returning to the Normandy, you will receive technology from the Reaper IFF. You have a choice: give it to Cerberus for 50,000 credits (and lose it), or talk to it to activate it in the AI Core on the Normandy.

WARNING PART 2: Crew Survival Timer

Immediately after EDI finishes installing the IFF, you MUST go through the Omega 4 Relay. Do not undertake any other assignments, as a timer for your crew's survival has begun. This will become apparent one or two missions later. Follow this guide's timeline strictly from this point forward to ensure everyone survives.

Post-Mission Opportunities:

  • You can visit shops to purchase any missed upgrades if you have sufficient credits.
  • This is a good time to advance any potential romance conversations. Mordin may offer humorous commentary on your partner or himself.
  • Prepare for the final missions.
