Part 19

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Part 19 walkthrough, including strategies for the Laughing Octopus and Laughing Beauty boss fights.

Boss: Laughing Octopus

You cannot defeat Laughing Octopus in a straight-out gunfight due to her tough armor and ability to deflect bullets. Use quick attacks and surprise her when she is hiding.

1. When the level begins, quickly run out of the room through the west door and use the wall for (cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects)).
2. While she is shooting her machine gun, switch to a shotgun (with non-lethal V-Ring ammo for the doll) or machine gun and equip the Solid Eye.
3. After she stops shooting, peek out and fire a few rounds.
4. If you hit her, she will curl into a ball, release an ink cloud, and disappear, leaving tracking bombs.
5. Exit the area and wait for the bombs to explode.
6. Octopus may crash through windows or use OctoCamo to blend in.
7. To track her when she hides, listen for her call-out and find her icon on the (radar (your minimap with nearby blips and threats marked)). The Solid Eye's night vision can help, and Otacon may provide hints.
8. Thoroughly check all areas, as she can hide against walls, ceilings, in front of paintings, in boxes, and other spots.
9. Avoid her tentacle grabs and her rolling charge attack, which can be devastating. Keep your distance, preferably with a wall between you.
10. If she uses the rolling attack, stand on tables, beds, or boxes for safety.
11. Be wary of her disguises as a fallen Haven Trooper, Naomi, or the MK.II, which may lure you into traps like claymores. Blast her while she is disguised and vulnerable for free hits.
12. Remain on the defense and only attack when she leaves herself open. Patience is key.

Boss: Laughing Beauty

When Laughing Octopus is defeated, she becomes Laughing Beauty.

1. Laughing Beauty stumbles and attempts to grab you; if she succeeds, her bear hug causes damage until you wiggle free. Keep your distance.
2. She can dodge some shots, so continue aiming for her chest to land hits.
3. If you defeat Laughing Beauty using non-lethal tactics, you will earn the Laughing Beauty FaceCamo.
4. To obtain the Laughing Octopus doll, defeat Laughing Octopus using non-lethal tactics. The doll is found on the bed during the Beauty fight and can only be obtained during this fight.

002.6 - Mountain Trail

The goal is to track the soldiers who took Naomi. Raiden provides tips on picking up scents and observing animals, but focusing on the footprints visible with the Solid Eye's night vision is most effective. Trail-and-error can also be used.

1. Begin by heading southwest and picking up the ration on the grass.
2. Continue following the footprints until the path diverges.
3. Take the northern route.
