Preparing for the Hunt
Prioritize Fire Resistance to weaken Rakna-Kadaki’s flamethrowers. Aim for at least 20, using a combination of your armor, Dango, Decorations and Talismans. This will nullify Fireblight. Also, bring Cleansers in case you’re trapped by web.
Bring an Ice-based weapon (eg. Barioth) if possible, or Water ones (eg. Tetranadon and Mizutsune).
Rakna-Kadaki Location
Rakna-Kadaki can be found in the following areas:
- Area 14: 60%
- Area 5: 30%
- Area 11: 10%
Areas 11 and 14 are underground and located near Sub-Camp 1. Area 5 can be reached from the main camp by cutting through Areas 1 and 4.
How to defeat Rakna-Kadaki
Rakna-Kadaki is not as aggressive or fast as some other monsters. Many of its attacks are frontal or have obvious tells, making them easy to avoid. The Claw Sweep can be hard to see if you’re standing by its side. Aim for its head to maximize damage.
Watch out for Rakna-Kadaki’s web-based attacks, which inflict the Webbed status, making you unable to move. Cleansers are useful here. Otherwise, keep trying to move to break free.
Beware of Rakna-Kadaki’s flame-based attacks, preceded by red gas. Move away or block with a shield. Attacks include Side Flamethrower, a sweeping version, and Mega Flamethrower.
Use your wirebugs to pull yourself to safety or launch yourself towards Rakna.
Rakna-Kadaki shifts between two modes:
- Webbed Claw state: Thick webbing on its four claws. It will detach a Rachnoid from its abdomen and sling itself around the battlefield. Attacking its claws can remove the webbing, causing Rakna-Kadaki to topple over, becoming defenseless.
- Incubating state: Rakna-Kadaki surrounds itself with web and re-emerges with an enlarged abdomen. Many attacks are powered up, especially those using its abdomen.
The fight cycles back to the initial form after the Incubating state.
