Hey there! So you're interested in becoming a Magician in My Time at Portia? Awesome choice! It's a really versatile Combat Life, great for blasting enemies from afar with elemental spells, but it also has some handy defensive and healing magic. Think of it as the all-rounder of the combat world. Your main weapon? A trusty Staff!

Your Master for this Life is a pretty cool cat named Oz. He's the one who'll get you started on your magical journey.

Life Quest: Communing with the Spirits

Alright, first things first, you'll need to find the Magician Guild. It's right behind the main Guild Office, just head up the stairs. Once you're there, chat with Oz, the Life Master. He's the cat you're looking for! He'll kick things off by asking you to meet up with his apprentice (or, as Oz calls him, his 'a-purr-tice'), Raggdol, out on the road leading to Capital City.

Head over to the quest marker on your map and find Raggdol. He'll suggest you both head to the Magician's Academy together. The Academy is located in Capital City itself – it's the first door you'll see on the right side after climbing the main stairway. After a bit of a lecture, Raggdol will admit he's never actually used magic before. That's where you come in! You'll suggest heading back to Oz to help him out.

Back with Oz, he'll explain that Raggdol really needs to get in sync with spirits to unlock his magical potential. He'll then point you towards the southwest beach near Eternia Village, but he'll give you a heads-up about a pesky Ghohohost that likes to hang around that area. Your next step is to meet Raggdol at the new marker on the beach to keep an eye on him while he tries to connect with the spirits.

As you start calling the spirits, wouldn't you know it, a not-so-friendly Ghohohost shows up! Don't worry too much, though; this guy is pretty easy to take down. Just defeat him quickly. After a little cutscene, you'll find yourself facing two more ghosts. Once that fight is done, you'll need to head back to Oz one last time to report your success and officially earn your Fledgling rank as a Magician!
