Learn how to master the Woodcutter Life in My Time at Portia. This guide covers tools, masters, and the 'Song for the Forest Lady' quest, including woodcutting mechanics and tips.

Woodcutters are masters in gathering woods from trees, which can be used by Carpenters for a good synergy.

Life Quest: Song for the Forest Lady

First thing to do is to meet with the Life Master, Leela, at the Guild which is just to the west of the Eternia. Speak with her and she'll task you to speak with Chopin, another apprentice of hers.

Chopin is just outside the Guild hut. Speak with him and he'll ask you to bring him 3 Oak Logs from the nearby trees. Let's get some woodcutting done.

Woodcutting

Wood cutting is very simple. You walk around the tree with [Left Stick] and hit it with [X] for a normal strike or [Square] for a hard strike while trying to find the sweet spot, the tree's weakpoint. The objective here is to deplete the tree's HP before your SP runs out from striking. The higher the tree's LV, the more HP it has and the harder it is to find the sweet spot. Do note that the tree's HP slowly regenerates if you're not hitting it.

Depleting the tree's HP with large damage on the last hit gives you an Excellent gathering, which means you get more items.

As you raise your woodcutting skill, you'll get abilities to find sweet spots, increase your lucky hit rate (the equivalent to a critical hit in battle) and other helpful skills.

Return to Chopin and he'll tell you to sell those logs you have to the Material Shop in town. Head to the marker and do just that. A scene will play where a man called Jay will ask for Sturdy Palm Logs, which the store doesn't have, but we'll be glad to help. Let's ask Leela where we can find some.

When you return to Leela, she won't tell you the location, but Chopin has an idea. Follow him to the fountain of the Capital City to find him.

Chopin is trying to call the Lady of the Forest for guidance on the fountain. As she is summoned, she tells you the location of Powerful Palm Trees: On the coast along the road between Eternia and the Capital City. Head to the new marker to find this tree.

Chop down the tree to get the Strong Palm Logs you need then return to Jay, who's outside the Material Goods shop. After talking to him, Leela appears for a scene to finish the quest.
