Full walkthrough for the Nioh 2 Main Mission: Ruin Draws Near. Includes enemy locations, Kodama, bells, sub-bosses, and boss strategies for Maeda Toshiee and Shibata Katsuie.
Walkthrough
- 1Start by crossing the bridge beyond the first shrine, defeating enemies along the way.
- 2Fight the sub-boss Yoki at the end of the bridge.
- 3After the Yoki, pass the gate and climb the ladder to your right. Find a skeleton soldier, a chest (possibly a mujina), and a Kodama behind it.
- 4Proceed to the second shrine. The path to the boss room is blocked; take the path to the right of the shrine through an open gate.
- 5Follow the path, defeat the Yoki, and climb the ladder. Inside the building, shoot the skeleton soldier and find the second Kodama in the left corner behind boxes.
- 6Locate the large hole in the center to reach the lower floor, or use the nearby stairs. The bottom floor has flames and a Wheel Monk sub-boss. Defeating it opens a gate back to the shrine.
- 7Return to the second floor and find stairs going up to the third floor.
- 8In the dark realm on the third floor, defeat two skeleton soldiers (including a large one) to clear it. Hit the large bell in the center twice with strong attacks or yokai abilities to make it fall. This is the first bell; ringing all bells unlocks a trophy.
- 9After dealing with a nearby Yoki, find a path from the balcony to another building and lower a ladder, returning to the earlier fork.
- 10Move into the next building, go down the stairs on the right, kill the skeleton soldier and the Onyudo.
- 11In the next room, find a small chest with a Tenno.
- 12Backtrack to where you fought the skeleton soldier. Shoot the red barrel next to the cracked wall to open a room with a chest and the third Kodama.
- 13Head back up and follow the path to another fork. Turn left into a dark realm, defeat the skeleton soldier and Ippon Datara. Kill the Wheel Monk to remove the dark realm and ring the second Bell.
- 14Follow the path straight ahead to a room with a Tenno and aberrant soldier. Defeat them.
- 15In the corner of this room, find a hidden portion with a hole. Jump down to find the fourth Kodama behind boxes.
- 16Open the door to leave; you'll fight two human soldiers. Go down the trap door.
- 17Find a corpse with a lock. Break the barrel of water, cross the fire, defeat enemies, and ring the third bell. The hotspring is around the corner where the aberrant soldier was.
- 18Before going back upstairs, open the door to the next dark realm. Defeat two skeleton soldiers and an Oni Bi, then the Koroka to remove the dark realm and ring the fourth bell.
- 19Head back upstairs where you fell from the trap door and lower a ladder to the shrine. A Sudama is nearby.
- 20Return to the room where you jumped down for the fourth Kodama and follow the remaining path.
- 21Enter a room in flames. The downstairs path is a dead end with two human enemies. Follow the other path and lower a ladder for a shortcut.
- 22Follow the path beyond the aberrant soldier to the first boss fight: Maeda Toshiee.
Maeda Toshiee Boss Fight:
- He attacks continuously with his spear, sometimes empowering it with fire for burn status. He may also blast you with fireballs while attacking.
- He is not overly difficult and can be handled with most weapons.
- After defeating him, speak to him and use the "nicely done" emote for more dialogue and an item.
Inner Castle Section:
- After beating Maeda Toshiee, use the key he drops to open the door behind him, leading to a shrine.
- Ahead of the shrine is a dark realm. Go down the ladder in the center to advance.
- Follow the path, defeat a Wheel Monk, and take stairs to the ground floor.
- Defeat the Onyudo, skeleton soldiers, Koroka, and Ippon Datara to remove the dark realm.
- Ring the fifth bell on the ground floor.
- Go to the wall opposite the bell, through an open doorway, to a dead end with the fifth Kodama.
- From the center area, go up the broken pillar. Upstairs, the sixth and final bell is to your left. Ring it to potentially unlock the trophy if all bells have been rung.
- Beyond the bell, jump down a destroyed staircase to find the sixth Kodama.
- Jump down again to the ground floor. Look left to see the fifth bell; the wall opposite it is a Nurikabe. Use emotes or kill it to open a hidden room with a locked chest and the seventh and final Kodama.
- Go back to the last bell and turn right to find stairs leading to a door, which is the boss room for Shibata Katsuie.
Shibata Katsuie Boss Fight:
- This is a very tough boss with extremely powerful and difficult-to-dodge attacks.
- His attacks include repeated charging attacks (3-4 times).
- (The source text cuts off here, so strategy details for Shibata Katsuie are incomplete.)
