Main Mission: The Beast Born of Smoke and Flames

Follow the path, defeat two enemies, and pick up amrita (a form of spiritual energy).

The path forks; one leads to a closed gate, the other to a house. Defeat two enemies near the house, one outside and one inside.

Near the house are two watchtowers. Climb the ladder on the further watchtower for amrita.

Beyond the house, two paths emerge: one into a road with many houses, the other uphill.

Enter the first house in sight; it contains two enemies. Destroy boxes behind it to access a well for sacred water or sacred arrows.

Go uphill, avoiding the town to prevent ambushes. Reach a house, defeat two enemies, and go behind it to find a path leading to the previous house's roof (a dead end with amrita).

Behind the house, pet the Scampuss (a cat yokai) for a buff; it may drop a soul core (a special item) upon leaving.

Proceed uphill via stairs to another house. Enter and open the chest. A path leads to town roofs and scaffolding overlooking the town.

From the scaffolding, snipe enemies, aiming for headshots (hitting the head for critical damage) to ensure instant kills.

Follow the path to the roofs. Find a ladder near stacked logs on the first roof; lower it to create a shortcut.

Move across the roofs, snipe remaining enemies, and collect amrita.

Jump down into the gap between two houses. Go behind the second house to find the first Kodama (a small spirit).

Continue onward, checking houses for amrita and a small chest.

Proceed uphill to a fork; one path is a dead end with amrita, the other leads to a house with a large chest.

Leave the house and find a large shed (empty). Continue opposite the shed to an old torii gate (a gateway to the spirit world) with two enemies.

Defeat the enemies. Go opposite the torii gate to access the roofs of two houses in the town street area.

On one roof, behind some bags, find the second Kodama.

Return to the torii gate and go down the stairs to its left to open the locked gate from the beginning, creating a new shortcut.

Enter beyond the torii gate for a sub-boss battle against Ippon Datara.

After defeating Ippon Datara, open the door at the back and descend two sets of ladders into a cavern.

Speak to the woman in the cavern twice.

Proceed into the cavern, kill a Gaki (a small yokai), and follow the left wall.

Find a Gaki hiding behind crates; next to it is the third Kodama. Kill the Gaki and guide the Kodama back to the shrine. Gaki may drop soul cores.

Exit the cavern, find shallow water and a bridge. Collect amrita in the water and cross to the second shrine.

Pray at the second shrine. A ladder nearby is usable but leads to a dead end unless another ladder is lowered. The gate next to the shrine is locked.

Follow the path to the right of the shrine. A nearby house contains an enemy with dual hatchets.

Beyond that house is the first Dark Realm (an area filled with yokai and negative energy).

Warning: Upon entering the Dark Realm, approach a Gaki eating a corpse cautiously to avoid an ambush by 3-4 Gaki and a Yoki (a larger yokai).

Headshot (a shot that lands on the enemy's head, usually an instant kill) the first Gaki with a bow and arrow.

Move to headshot the Yoki on the roof, preferably with a sacred arrow.

Lure the Yoki out of the Dark Realm by running out and using arrows and ninja tools to keep it baited.

Kill the Yoki outside the Dark Realm. Avoid using the shrine unless necessary, as this will cause the Gaki and Yoki to return.

Return to the Dark Realm and eliminate the remaining Gaki, using headshots for speed.

Inside the building beyond the Gaki group, find an Enki (another yokai). Snipe it, lure it out of the Dark Realm, and kill it. This dispels the Dark Realm and prevents most yokai from respawning at the shrine.

Heal up. Return to the house where the Yoki was on the roof for a large chest.

Find another chest in the house where the Enki was.

Directly in front of the house where the Enki was, go behind a small shed, destroy crates, and defeat a Dweller (a crawling yokai), which is weak to low stance damage.

Inside the shed is a ladder leading underground.
