Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Boat Panel Guide

After completing the tutorial for Boat Mode, exit the wreck and use the Boat Panel you encountered earlier. Sail to the right through the waterway.

To test the paper boat's seaworthiness, you'll sail through waterfalls. Begin by sailing up the river and through the first waterfall. Collect the Defend Plus P, then return to the room with the waterfall. Go over the waterfall, enduring your partners' screams. At the bottom, sail left and navigate between the broken bridge and a rock. Exit to the left.

You will return to the room where you fought Bullet Bills and Bill Blasters. Sail through the left exit, as there is nothing else in this area.

In this new room, reach the Boat Panel and exit boat mode. Jump onto the ship and retrieve the missing handle for the floodgate. Return to the room with the gate by land.

Place the handle into the mechanism to open the gate, allowing trash to flow through. Proceed to the room with the Save Block, then take the upper exit. Use the Boat Panel and sail over the waterfall. Continue through the now-opened gate.

You will arrive at the location of the sunken ship and barrels. Exit to the right.

You are now in the second spear room (where Tube Mode could also have been used). Sail to the right, encountering waves. These strong currents will sink the paper boat and return you to the entrance. Dodge the waves by moving up or down while progressing left or right. Once you reach the east side, exit.

Upon entering, you'll encounter shipwrecked Toads. Sail to the right, past them, and exit Boat Mode. Enter the nearby pipe, which leads to the background. Continue left until you find another pipe; use it to return to the foreground. Near this pipe is a Plane Panel. Fly right, pressing B over pipes. When over the correct pipe, use it to return to the background. Activate the ! block nearby to reveal barrels, creating a walkway. Re-enter the first pipe (leading to the Plane Panel) and press B over the other pipe. Use this pipe and activate its ! block to complete the barrel walkway. The Toads, Frankie, and Francesca will leave, heading right. Follow them using the first pipe you used. Upon reaching the crowd, you'll be thanked, and the Piantas will explain their predicament and reveal that the treasure is nearby. Exit to the right.

The final room contains a ship that likely belongs to Cortez. As you enter, Four-Eyes catches up, mentioning the Crystal Star is within the ship and that he will wait outside. Use the Heart Block to save, then enter Cortez's ship.

Inside the ship, you'll receive further warnings. Ignore them and proceed to the next room.

The final room is filled with treasure and a large floating skull, which is the spirit of Cortez. He mistakes you for someone after the entire treasure. Prepare for battle!
