Journey to Kitakami

Begin your adventure in Kitakami! This guide covers how to start the DLC, meet Briar, and your first battles with Carmine and Kieran in Pokémon Scarlet.

Alright, so you've finished the main story in Pokémon Scarlet and you're ready for more? Awesome! First things first, you'll need to buy the DLC. Once that's done, just start up your game.

You'll get a call from Jacq pretty quickly, telling you about a school trip. Head over to the school's entrance hall. There, you'll meet Briar, a teacher from Blueberry Academy who's organizing this whole joint trip to the land of Kitakami. Jacq will then add the Kitakami Pokédex to your app. After chatting with them, Briar will ask if you're ready to go. Just talk to her and select 'Yes' to head off!

Upon arriving in Kitakami, Briar will ask you to make your way to Mossui Town. Once you get there, you'll meet Carmine and Kieran. Carmine will immediately challenge you to a battle!

Carmine's Pokémon:

• Poochyena (Lv. 60) - Dark-type (weak to Bug, Fairy, Fighting)
• Poltchageist (Lv. 60) - Grass/Ghost-type (weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, Dark, Ghost)
• Vulpix (Lv. 60) - Fire-type (weak to Ground, Rock, Water)

After you defeat Carmine, the Caretaker will let you know he'll be looking after your group. Your next step is to head into the community center to continue the story. Once you're done there, you can get some rest in your room at the back to call it a night.

The next day, the Caretaker will explain an orienteering exercise and give you a Roto-Stick. Then, it's time to talk to the kids from the other school. Kieran will want to battle you next.

Kieran's Pokémon:

• Sentret (Lv. 59) - Normal-type (weak to Fighting)
• Yanma (Lv. 60) - Bug/Flying-type (weak to Fire, Flying, Rock, Electric, Ice)

After you beat Kieran, you'll be paired up with him. He'll suggest starting the orienteering exercise at the signboard in Loyalty Plaza. That's your cue to explore Kitakami!
