You'll find the Door Knob in the Lift storehouse within the Military Training Center. Look for it on the floor, right on top of the turntable, near where you control it.

Once you have it, this item's purpose is to open a specific door. You'll use it on the door in the Security room corridor (damaged), which will then grant you access to the garage. This is important because it's how Chris can get the Tank Object.
