Parasite Phase 2: Adapting to New Threats

As the Parasite transitions into its second phase, its attack patterns become more erratic and dangerous, demanding a significant shift in your strategy. The creature will now incorporate ranged attacks and more aggressive melee combinations, forcing you to be more mobile and opportunistic. Successfully navigating this phase hinges on recognizing its new attack vectors and exploiting the brief moments of vulnerability it presents.

The most significant addition in Phase 2 is the Parasite's projectile attack. It will periodically spit globs of corrosive bile, which leave damaging pools on the ground. These projectiles are relatively slow-moving, but their area-of-effect damage can quickly limit your movement options. When you see the Parasite rear its head and begin to spit, immediately move to the side and be mindful of where the bile lands. Avoid standing in these pools at all costs, as they inflict continuous damage, similar to a lingering status effect.

In addition to the bile, the Parasite's melee attacks become more relentless. It will often chain together multiple lunges and sweeps, making it harder to find openings. The strategy of hit-and-run remains effective, but it requires more precise timing. After dodging a combo, you may only have a very small window to land one or two shots with your Pistol before needing to evade again. The Shotgun, if acquired by this point, becomes a more viable option for burst damage during these brief openings, but its limited range means you'll need to be even closer, increasing the risk.

The arena itself plays a more crucial role in this phase. The pools of bile can create hazardous zones, forcing you to fight around them. Use the remaining intact machinery as cover, not just to break line of sight, but to funnel the Parasite into predictable paths. If you find yourself cornered by the bile and the Parasite's melee, prioritize evasion over offense. A well-timed dodge can save you from taking substantial damage. Remember to conserve your Health Packs; while this phase is more challenging, it's still possible to manage without using them if you play defensively and capitalize on every small opportunity. The key is patience and observation; learn the new tells for its attacks and react accordingly.
