This guide section, contributed by Ian S, offers various tips and strategies for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, focusing on combat efficiency, item management, and specific encounter tactics.
Walkthrough
- 1Party Member Crafting:
- 2T3-M4: Computer spikes (mentioned as already in guide).
- 3Zaalbar: Can craft various grenades, including adhesive. Cannot craft plasma grenades or thermal detonators.
- 4Canderous: Crafts adrenal stimulants. Useful for light side players fighting Malak with a lightsaber.
- 5Mission: Crafts security spikes for opening doors, though bashing through is also an option.
- 6Jolee: Can craft life support packs, but requires items to be placed in a container and only makes about 3 at a time before needing replenishment.
- 7Item Management & Selling:
- 8Place grenades and adrenal stimulants in a cargo hold container before talking to Zaalbar and Canderous, respectively.
- 9Sell items like Sharina's wraid plate to Fazza in his office on Tatooine for 500 credits.
- 10Hunt desert wraids in the Dune Sea, loot their bone plates, and sell them to Fazza. This can be time-consuming and challenging.
- 11Tatooine Encounters:
- 12Desert Wraids & Sand People: Hunting desert wraids can be difficult, especially when sand people are also present. Some wraids are named "Hulak Wraid" and are tougher. Fighting both wraids and sand people simultaneously can be extremely hard.
- 13Sand People Tactics: Normal sand people are tough. Elite warriors and a holy warrior are particularly dangerous. If you wish to avoid them, head straight to the sandcrawler. If you want to engage them, pick a dune and walk; they will find you. A peaceful solution with the sand people is also possible.
- 14Black Vulkar Base Encounter:
- 15To defeat the twi'lek and its bodyguard, raid the docking bay and pool for plasma grenades.
- 16When "Enemy Sighted!" appears, have your character throw two plasma grenades, and have Mission and Zaalbar each throw one at the twi'lek. The bodyguard will also be caught in the blast.
- 17Endgame & Force Powers:
- 18In the final battle with Malak, Force Storm was used against Jedi tubes (even as a light sider). Force Breach could also have been used effectively.
- 19Companion Conversations:
- 20Bastila: Two additional conversations (Bastilla 14 and 15) are noted. Bastilla 14 occurs on the Ebon Hawk after the Kashyyyk vision and discusses feelings and Malak, completing the "Bastilla" quest. Bastilla 15 occurs after exiting the judge's house in the Holder of the Laws quest, where Bastilla expresses reluctance to discuss certain topics until Malak is defeated.
- 21Carth: A potential issue is noted where Carth did not initiate dialogue after completing the "Finding Dustil" quest, despite attempts to trigger it by finding Star Maps or leveling up across two game files. The cause is speculated to be a "saving levels" glitch or using T3-M4 to open Uthar's room.
