Learn how to handle violent options in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, including optional character dismissals and combat encounters.

Hey there! So, you're curious about the more aggressive paths in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, huh? Sometimes, you might even have the option to deal with your companions in a less-than-friendly way. Let's break down what that looks like.

Dealing with Juhani

Early on, you might get a chance to confront Juhani. If you choose to go the violent route and attack her, you'll have to select the last dialogue option presented. This will immediately throw you into combat. If you defeat her, you'll gain a Dark Side Point (DSP). Now, some of your other companions might not be too happy about this – especially those Jedi types who you might have met earlier. They'll be pretty annoyed, but they won't have any concrete proof or be able to do anything about it. Just know that by doing this, you're locking yourself out of having Juhani as a party member for the rest of the game.

Mandalorian Raiders

After dealing with Juhani (one way or another), you'll head west from her location and run into another group of Mandalorian raiders. These guys are pretty standard fare, and you shouldn't have any trouble taking them down. Make sure to loot their bodies afterward to grab any useful items they might be carrying.

Mission's Side Quest: Griff and Lena

This is a big one and often the first party member side quest you'll encounter. To trigger it, you'll need to head back to the Ebon Hawk. It's best to have Mission in your party when you do this. If you've already learned about Griff and Lena (which you likely have by this point), Lena should recognize Mission as soon as you walk a few steps into the ship. She'll then initiate a conversation with you. There's no alignment change associated with this particular chat, so feel free to respond however you like. Through this conversation, you'll learn that Griff is on Tatooine, and Mission is determined to find him. We'll get to that later in the game!

A Note on Side Quests

Generally, these personal quests for your companions pop up after you've had a significant conversation with them. Once that trigger point is hit, you can usually start the quest by using the 'Return to Ship' (RTS) function while they're in your party, or simply by exiting the Ebon Hawk with them. If a companion's quest doesn't seem to start when you expect it to, a good troubleshooting step is to fly back to Dantooine and try exiting the ship with that character. There are only a few exceptions where a side quest might have a more specific trigger, but this general rule works most of the time.
