Characters with the Reflex or Powerhouse skills are highly recommended due to their unique utility and defensive moves, allowing for actions like spin-kicking ferals or suplexing screamers.

Pay close attention to survivor moods and attitudes. Keep them happy by ensuring they feel safe (through outposts, clearing infestations, stocking supplies) and by making them feel like they are contributing (completing missions, tasks, or bringing in supplies).

Noise attracts zombies. Use suppressors on guns (effective for 30-50 shots), search silently, and be cautious with vehicles. In later levels, it is often easier to jog to your destination.

Be aware of bloaters, especially when engaged with other zombies. They can easily cause a death sentence if they explode nearby. You will encounter a marked increase in bloaters as you level up, including while driving.

Stock up on Whistling Mines and Steel Pipe bombs for later levels. Whistling Mines attract zombies with noise before exploding, allowing for escape, while Steel Pipe bombs can clear entire buildings of zombies when thrown through windows.

The Heavy Weapon specialization's "low sweep" can eliminate 6 zombies at once. Combining "low sweep" with a combo roll is an effective strategy for dealing with hordes. Edge specialists also have a similar leg chop move that works well with combo rolls, and leveled-up edged specialists can kill most zombies in 1-2 blows. Heavy and edged weapons are generally more effective than blunt weapons for quickly dispatching large numbers of zombies.

A leveled-up shotgun specialist with a good shotgun can eliminate a horde with a single shot, but be prepared for more zombies to arrive due to the noise.

To ensure you have fuel in the next level, leave the current level with 1-4 units of fuel.

You start the next level with 0 influence. Load backpacks with guns and weapons to immediately transfer them to the storage locker.

The storage locker has a total capacity of 255 slots (including melee weapons, guns, backpacks, stackable items, and stackable ammo). Monitor your storage space to prevent it from filling up. Drop off less valuable weapons and backpacks to neighboring enclaves to gain influence.

Before moving to a new base, the RV provides two outposts. Use these to establish outposts around your intended base for adequate protection, as large hordes often appear shortly after relocating.
