Learn how to find and repair the RV in State of Decay, including costs and preparation for leaving the valley.
Walkthrough
- 1After a while, Lily will inform you about a broken-down RV outside of town. A "?" on your (minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen)) will mark its location.
- 2You can also find the RV by driving around before Lily mentions it. Approaching it will trigger dialogue from Lily.
- 3To fix the RV, access its slot on the "Home" page. There are four potential problems:
- 4Engine not working: Requires 20 materials, 5 fuel, and 100 influence.
- 5Needs sanitizing: Requires 10 medicine and 200 influence.
- 62 flat tires: Requires 10 construction supplies and 100 influence.
- 7Fill the Tank: Requires 25 fuel and 100 influence.
- 8Fixing the engine and sanitizing may have delays requiring extra tools, similar to building facilities.
- 9The number of problems depends on the RV's level: Level 1 has one problem, Level 2 has two, Level 3 has three, and Level 4 and beyond have all four.
- 10Before leaving the valley, ensure you have 30 construction supplies.
- 11Do not have more than 4 fuel when leaving; 5 or more fuel will result in starting the next level with 0 fuel. Having 1-4 fuel allows you to set mines immediately upon making an outpost.
- 12Clean out your storage locker, as it has a maximum limit of 255 slots. Dispose of unwanted items, such as lower-quality weapons (consider breaking them for 6 influence) or extra backpacks.
- 13Since you start the next level with zero influence, equip survivors with high-influence guns or melee weapons to gain influence by dropping them into the storage locker upon arrival.
- 14If you are not using Ray and plan to use a runner to reach the first vehicle and/or base, stock up on snacks to ensure the runner can cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) the necessary distance.
- 15Check your achievements, as progress on most will reset upon leaving the valley, except for the achievement related to Diane Montessori.
- 16When ready to leave, select "Load the RV."
- 17Choose the survivors you want to take by tabbing over to the group menu and selecting "get on the RV" for each.
- 18If a survivor is away from the base, select "check in" on them. Lily will contact them via radio, providing their location. You must then travel to that location and instruct them to get on the RV.
- 19Ensure survivors left behind have a basic weapon (a cheap melee weapon and gun) to prevent them from taking items from the storage locker.
- 20Note: In earlier versions of State of Decay (not YOSE), you can bring more than the official limit of 7 survivors. If a survivor is at the base, switch to them, leave the base briefly, switch back, and then "check in" with the other survivor. This makes them appear away from the base, allowing you to tell them to "get on the RV." This trick is useful for reaching locations like Snyder's Trucking Warehouse, which requires 10 survivors.
- 21Confirm you are sure about leaving the valley and acknowledge that your unlocked achievements will reset.
- 22Upon confirmation, you will officially leave the valley, and a score breakdown will be displayed. The RV will then break down randomly on the map.
- 23When the next level begins, you will spawn at a random location. The RV serves as a temporary base with storage locker access, but your influence will be 0 and supplies minimal. Your next objective is to find a new base.
Tips
- Consider using the trick to bring extra survivors if you need more than 7 for specific objectives.
- Prioritize fixing the RV's engine and sanitizing if you have the necessary tools, as these may have longer repair times.
- Manage your inventory carefully before leaving to avoid exceeding the 255-slot storage limit in the next level.
- Equipping survivors with high-value weapons before leaving is a good strategy to quickly gain influence at the start of the next level.
