Once you've mastered the basics of survival, it's time to elevate your resource gathering to an advanced level. This involves not just collecting what's immediately available, but strategically planning expeditions, utilizing advanced tools, and understanding the respawn mechanics of crucial resources. Efficient advanced gathering is key to building larger bases, crafting high-tier items, and ultimately, escaping the archipelago.

Deep Sea Diving for Rare Materials

The ocean floor holds some of the most valuable and often overlooked resources. Before embarking on a deep-sea dive, ensure you have the following:

• Flippers: Significantly increases swim speed, crucial for covering large distances and escaping predators.
• Rebreather: Extends your underwater breath-holding capacity dramatically, allowing for longer dives.
• Speargun & Spears: For defense against aggressive sharks (Tiger Sharks, Great White Sharks) that patrol deeper waters.
• Refined Pickaxe: Essential for mining rare ore nodes.
• Gyrocopter (Optional but Recommended): For quickly locating shipwrecks and large rock formations from above.

Locating Deep Sea Resources:

Deep sea resources are primarily found in two locations:

1. Shipwrecks: These sunken vessels are treasure troves of manufactured goods. Look for large, dark shapes on the seafloor.
   • Loot: Often contain Duct Tape, Electrical Parts, Tarps, Plastic, and sometimes even rare tools like the Engine Part or Gyro Parts.
   • Strategy: Approach cautiously. Some shipwrecks have aggressive Eels or Lionfish inside. Clear out any immediate threats before looting. Prioritize containers and shelves.
2. Underwater Rock Formations: These are distinct from the smaller rocks found in shallow water. They often appear as large, jagged outcrops.
   • Resource: Primarily contain Clay and Iron Ore. Clay is vital for crafting Clay Flasks and Brick resources, while Iron Ore is indispensable for Refined Tools and advanced crafting.
   • Strategy: Use your Refined Pickaxe to mine these nodes. Each node typically yields multiple units of the resource. Be mindful of your oxygen and potential shark patrols.

Advanced Wood and Stone Harvesting

While basic wood and stone are plentiful, advanced crafting requires a steady, high-volume supply. This means moving beyond simply chopping down nearby trees.

Farming Wood with the Axe (Refined)

• Tool: The Refined Axe is paramount. It harvests wood significantly faster and has higher durability than the Crude Axe.
• Strategy:
  1. Designate a "Logging Island": Find an island with a dense population of trees (Palm Trees, Yucca Trees).
  2. Clear-Cutting: Systematically chop down every tree. Remember that Palm Trees yield 4x Wood Logs and 2x Palm Fronds, while Yucca Trees yield 4x Fibrous Leaves.
  3. Transport: Use a Raft (preferably a large, custom-built one with plenty of storage) to transport the logs back to your main base. Consider building a small, temporary shelter on your logging island to store logs before a large transport run.
  4. Respawn: Trees respawn over time, though it can take several in-game days. Rotate between a few logging islands to maintain a consistent supply.

Stone Quarrying with the Pickaxe (Refined)

• Tool: The Refined Pickaxe is crucial for efficient stone harvesting.
• Strategy:
  1. Locate Stone Nodes: These are the large, grey boulders found on islands. Each node yields multiple units of Stone.
  2. Island Hopping: Stone nodes do not respawn on the same island. You will need to travel to different islands to find new nodes.
  3. Transport: Similar to wood, a large Raft is ideal for transporting large quantities of Stone back to your base.
  4. Prioritize: Stone is a finite resource on each island. Prioritize islands with many visible nodes.

Automated and Sustainable Resource Generation

For long-term survival, setting up sustainable resource generation is vital, reducing your reliance on constant expeditions.

Farming for Food and Fibrous Leaves

• Farm Plots: Crafting Farm Plots allows you to grow food and Fibrous Leaves directly on your base island.
  • Food: Plant Potatoes, Quwawa, or Pipi. These require regular watering (using a Water Still and Clay Flasks) to grow.
  • Fibrous Leaves: Plant Yucca Fruit (obtained from Yucca Trees). This provides a renewable source of Fibrous Leaves for crafting Rope and other items.
• Water Stills: Build multiple Water Stills to ensure a constant supply of fresh water for both drinking and watering your crops. Place them under a Tarp for increased efficiency during rain.

Fish Traps for Passive Food

• Fish Traps: Craft and deploy Fish Traps in shallow waters around your base. These passively catch small fish, providing a consistent, low-effort food source.
  • Placement: Place them near coral reefs or rock formations where small fish tend to congregate.
  • Maintenance: Check them daily. Emptying them regularly ensures they continue to catch fish.
