Walkthrough for Dhaos' Castle Final in Tales of Phantasia. Includes how to get the Derris Emblem and Meteor Swarm spell.
Walkthrough
- 1Access Dhaos' Castle through the cave west of Ary.
- 2Upon arrival, go upwards to a Memory Circle (save point).
- 3Enter the castle and prepare for a fight against a Dark Eye, which is immune to magic. Use Cress and Chester's arrows for this fight.
- 4After defeating the Dark Eye, go up and enter the small door on the upper left to find two treasure chests containing a Holy Bottle and a Sage.
- 5Return to the main area and go up on the right, then through the small aisle to the next screen.
- 6Enter the door on the right to find a treasure chest with a Star Shield.
- 7Continue north to a room with a switch lever at the back; activate it to open a locked door.
- 8Go down twice and head right, then follow the path to the stairs to the second floor.
- 9On the second floor, go north through the door. It will close behind you.
- 10Go north again through another door to find a chest containing the Meteor Swarm Spell for Arche.
- 11Go south to find two treasure chests containing a ?ARMOR (can become a Star Cloak) and a Rune Bottle.
- 12Go left and up to reach the start of floor 2.
- 13Take the left passage, as the south door is locked.
- 14Go down through the door and down again to the next room.
- 15Go south into a room with two treasure chests containing an Elixir and a ?ARMOR (can become the Mumbane). If Golden Armor is equipped on Cress, equip the Mumbane on Chester.
- 16The door to the right has a lever at the end of the room that opens the previously locked door.
- 17Go back up and north to the aisle, then through the open door all the way north. A sign here reads: "There is a secret room in this floor".
- 18Go back out and notice a staircase in the middle of the room. Enter through the right wall and go up the stairs to the 3rd floor.
- 19On the 3rd floor, go north to find a Magic Orange symbol on the floor with a star. This teleports the party to a basement dungeon.
- 20Warning: Equip the Derris Emblem on Cress to avoid being teleported. The objective is to find 4 more Derris Emblems to equip on every party member.
- 21Ensure you have a Stone Check accessory equipped to protect against enemies that can turn you into stone.
- 22Go up to the next room to find a treasure chest. A Ninja (Hanzou) will attack before you can claim it. Defeat him with Cress's Tech attacks.
- 23Claim the chest containing a Derris Emblem.
- 24Go right and up again. In this room, two treasure chests contain a ?ROD and a Star Glove.
- 25Go down twice and enter the door to your right to find another treasure chest containing a Derris Emblem, but first, another Hanzou fight.
- 26Go back out and head south, then enter the door to the south to find two treasure chests containing a ?HELM (can become a Star Beret) and a ?BOOK (can become the Towarumashiku Book for Klaus). Do not equip the Towarumashiku Book if you already have the NG Book.
- 27Go back out and go to the door on the right to find another treasure chest containing a Derris Emblem, preceded by another Hanzou fight.
- 28Go back north and then left to reach the room with the Magic Symbol. Go left of the symbol to the next room.
- 29Go left and then to the lower left to enter a door. Inside, another chest contains a Derris Emblem and triggers a Hanzou fight.
- 30Return to the Magic Symbol and de-equip the Derris Emblem to be teleported back to the dungeon where your party is locked up.
- 31Go to the bottom left to find Klaus's cell.
- 32Go right and then up to find Arche's cell. To the left of Arche's cell is Mint's cell.
- 33To the left and slightly down is Chester's cell.
- 34From Chester's cell, go all the way up and to the right to find another cell with stairs leading to the next floor. You will be close to the entrance; consider saving your progress.
- 35Go right and follow the path to the second floor. Go through the right wall of the set of stairs leading to the 3rd floor.
- 36Go up and ensure all 5 party members have the Derris Emblem equipped.
- 37Go through the Magic Symbol, then left and left again.
- 38Examine the double doors to trigger a scene where the 5 characters must open them.
- 39The next room contains 6 treasure chests with Spectacles, Charm Bottle, Sage, Holy Bottle, ?HELM (Star Beret), and a ?SWORD (Washar Rapier).
- 40Go up to the fourth floor.
- 41Use the Memory Circle to save your progress.
- 42Head up and to the right through the door leading down into the next room. The door you entered through is now locked.
- 43Go right and enter the door leading upwards to find two treasure chests containing an Apple Gummi and a Sage.
- 44Go back out, head right and up through the door.
- 45Go left and follow the path. The door you see is the exit but is currently locked. Continue left to the next room.
- 46Go left and enter the door leading up to find two treasure chests containing a Mixed Gummi and a Savory.
- 47Go back out, head left and up into the next room. A treasure chest contains a Rune Bottle.
Tips
- Ensure Chester is in your party when entering the castle to attack the first enemy from a distance.
- The Dark Eye enemy is immune to magic spells.
- The Mumbane armor can be made from a ?ARMOR found on the second floor.
- The Towarumashiku Book is for Klaus and should only be equipped if you don't have the NG Book.
- Equip the Derris Emblem on Cress to avoid being teleported to the basement dungeon initially.
- Collect 4 additional Derris Emblems to equip on all party members so they don't get teleported by the magic symbol.
