A complete walkthrough for Sylph's Mountain in Tales of Phantasia, guiding you through puzzles, mini-bosses, and obtaining the Sylph summon.
Walkthrough
- 1Enter Sylph's Mountain and proceed upwards. Use the pickaxe (purchased in Harmel) to break rocks blocking the path.
- 2Follow the air current to find flying mini Sylphs. Defeat them by attacking constantly with Cress, avoiding lightning-based techniques as they heal the enemies (indicated by green damage numbers).
- 3After the fight, head south and right to find a chest containing a Blue Ribbon.
- 4Continue north to the next area. You'll find a Memory Circle to save your progress.
- 5Proceed upwards and follow the tornado to the right, avoiding its damaging base.
- 6After crossing the tornado area, go up to find a cave hole. Enter the cave.
- 7Inside the cave, a wind current will carry you right, leading to another Memory Circle. Save your game.
- 8Go right and follow the path. You'll encounter a pit and a silver cylinder. Use the rope (press A) to descend.
- 9Continue along the path. When you reach a rock wall, use the pickaxe to break it.
- 10Ignore the stairs below for now and go right to find another rock wall. Destroy it and descend to find a chest with Spectacles.
- 11Return to the stairs and go down. Break the rock wall. Head left (nothing to the right) and follow the path to climb a rope.
- 12You'll return to an area where you were previously dragged by Sylphs. Prepare for another mini-boss fight against them. Use the same strategy as before (avoid lightning tech).
- 13After the fight, go up from the save point. You'll enter an area filled with damaging miasma. You need to be quick.
- 14Go up and right, then immediately down to find a rock wall. Break it with the pickaxe to reveal a movable rock.
- 15Drag the rock up and then left to the top-left of the room, placing it on a miasma puddle to block the miasma flow in this section.
- 16Proceed all the way to the right and then down. You'll see Sylphs, but don't engage them yet. Use the rope to descend into another miasma-filled room.
- 17Klaus will warn about demons. If you encounter a Hell Master, run from the battle immediately, as it's a very difficult fight with no reward.
- 18To clear the miasma in this room, you need to cover two holes. First, go right to a Memory Circle and save your game.
- 19From the Memory Circle, go down and then right at the split path to find the first rock. Drag it down to the bottom.
- 20Go left, navigating around stalagmites, and push the rock all the way to the left and then upwards to the miasma puddle at the top. Ignore the middle corridor going up.
- 21Return to where you found the first rock. Go to the upper-right of the room, past the first miasma puddle you covered.
- 22Find a chest containing a Talisman (boosts defense).
- 23Continue down from the Talisman chest to find a rock wall. Break it with the pickaxe to find the second rock.
- 24Drag this rock all the way up and left to the second miasma puddle. This will clear the miasma in this room.
- 25Go back up to the upper-left part of the room and climb back up. The Sylphs will be gone.
- 26Find a chest containing a Rune Bottle.
- 27Go down to exit the cave. Klaus will note the absence of miasma and point towards Sylph's location across a bridge.
- 28Before proceeding, collect chests: one on the bottom right with an Apple Gummi.
- 29Return left to where the second Sylphs were. A blue chest now contains a Charm Bottle.
- 30Go up from the Charm Bottle chest to find two more chests containing a Kite Shield and an Amber Robe.
- 31Save your game at the Memory Circle near the cave entrance.
- 32From outside the cave, go to the top right to a new area.
- 33Cross the hanging bridges to the right.
- 34Proceed up to the tree where Sylph is located.
- 35Sylph will express concern about magic fading. Listen to the dialogue.
- 36Klaus makes a pact with Sylph, learning the summon Sylph and obtaining an Elemental Orb.
- 37Exit Sylph's Mountain and go south to Bart's house for a scene.
- 38Sylph has no information about Arche. Continue towards the Spirit Forest, located south of the continent, passing through Belladum.
Tips
- When fighting the mini-boss Sylphs, avoid using lightning-based magic as it heals them. Damage numbers will turn green when this happens.
- If you encounter a Hell Master, run from the battle immediately. These enemies are extremely powerful and offer no reward for defeating them.
- The miasma puzzles require careful planning and efficient movement. Take your time to understand the path for the movable rocks.
