Learn how Orbments and Quartz work in The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero! Discover how to unlock Arts, upgrade slots, and find the best Quartz for your party.

Hey there! So, you're diving into The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and wondering about these 'Orbments' everyone's talking about? Think of them as your characters' personal magic devices. They use special circuits called Quartz to pull off all sorts of cool Orbal Arts in battle. To actually use these Arts, you'll need Energy Points, or EP. The more EP a character has, the more powerful their Arts can be. You can boost a character's max EP by opening up more Slots on their Orbment. You'll do this at the Orbal Store, Genten, located in the Central Square of Crossbell City.

Now, here's where it gets a bit more strategic with Orbments. You can't just slap any Quartz anywhere and expect the Art you want. Each Orbment has 'Lines' that dictate how the Quartz connect. Tio's Orbment is pretty straightforward, with one Line running through it, so you can pretty much use any Quartz you find on her. Randy's Orbment, on the other hand, is more complex with three different Lines, making it trickier to unlock advanced Arts with him. Each Quartz has an elemental value. For example, the HP 1 Quartz has a water value. If you equip it, the Line it's on gains that water value, and you'll unlock the Tear Art. If you then add the Defense 2 Quartz (which has an Earth x3 value) to the *same Line*, you'll also unlock the Earth Pulse Art. But if you put Defense 2 on a different Line, you won't get that second Art.

You can get Quartz in a few ways. The most common is synthesizing them at Genten, the Orbal Store. As you progress, you'll find more variety. You'll also discover Quartz hidden in treasure chests out in the world. Plus, if you feed fish to Coppe on the roof of the SSS Building, you can get specific Quartz!

When you first get your Orbments, each character only has one Slot. To get more, you'll need to visit Genten in Crossbell City's Central Square and talk to Wendy at the counter. Select the 'Synthesize/Upgrade' option, then choose 'Slot'. Instead of Mira, you'll need Sepith to upgrade. You get Sepith mostly by defeating enemies, but sometimes you'll find it in chests. The first Slot you unlock on any Line is the cheapest, but subsequent Slots on that same Line will cost more Sepith. Starting in Chapter 2, you can also upgrade these Slots, which costs even more Sepith. Just like unlocking Slots, upgrading them gets pricier the further along a Line you go. Upgrading Slots also increases a character's maximum EP, just like unlocking them does.
